I'm exhausted. That was the only thing going through my mind at this very moment. I hadn't slept last night. It wasn't like I could sleep without Vi putting me to sleep. I hate that I needed to be put to sleep like a child. Powder doesn't even need it, she just jumps in bed and sleeps. It messed with me sometimes.
I look around our little hangout spot before closing my eyes, sighing. I bring my hand up to rub my temple, the start of a migraine waving over me.
"Remind me why we bother with this dump" I open my eyes to see Mylo picking his nose and Clagger staring at me. He looks concerned. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. He looks away and at Violet.
"Vander said to lay low. Enforcers never come down here, so this is as good a place as any." I look past Clagger to see Vi wiping the sweat off her forehead. I almost drool at the sight.
Clagger chuckles from beside me, snapping me out of the little daydream I was in. "Oh, what's the matter, Mylo? You worried Powder's gonna beat you again?" I muster up a smirk and a small chuckle, just to rile Mylo up.
Mylo looks at me and glares "Hey, if she didn't keep fixing these things, I wouldn't keep missing" and as if on cue, Powder jumps up from behind the counter and plugs in the shooting range, making it light up in all neon colors.
I catch Clagger looking at me again. "What?" I whisper to him. He sighs, looking over at Vi then back at me. "What happened last night?" My throat closes and suddenly it's hard to breathe. "Nothing happened, Clag." He hums, not believing me. I roll my eyes. "I was awake when you two came in last night. And those jackets don't cover anything." He laughs at my face. "I can also know that you were too afraid to ask her to read you to sleep." I scoff, crossing my arms and frowning. I hesitate before looking up at him. "How do you know all of this?" He just looks back towards Mylo and Powder. "You'd be surprised with what you can find out if you pay enough attention. Plus, it's obvious you're into each other." I sigh, leaning back against the couch back and looking at Vi. He chuckles and we both focus back to what's going on.
I see Violet taking off her boxing gloves "You guys know I wouldn't take you on a job you couldn't handle, right?" She asks, rubbing her wrist to work the cramps and aches out. "Are you kidding? That was the best job we've ever done." He looks at Powder. "Maybe just don't take Powder next time." Powder glares at him. I smile, proud that she's not taking his shit. I had to learn how to put him in his place, just like she is.
Powder lifts her gun, everyone watching closely to see what'll happen. My mouth slightly falls open as she hits every target, head-on. Where in the world did she learn to do that? I grin at Mylo's face when Powder sticks her tongue out at him and gives him a mocking face.
Clagger knocks my arm, bringing his thumb forward "Thumb war?" I smile, locking my hand with his. " One Two Three Four I declare a thumb war." Our thumbs start to wrestle, our arms and bodies twisting to better our chances of winning. "Hey? You guys should see thi"- Me and Clagger jump apart as we hear glass breaking and a body thumping on the ground.
I look being me to see a man on the ground, broken glass, and enforcers staring at us. I look at Violet, scared. She gives me a face that says 'we'll be fine.' One of the enforcers, the one that looks in charge, slightly nods to us "Search them." We throw our hands above our heads, Clagger subtly helping me stand up. Enforcers will use any weakness they see against you. I mentally prepare myself for running away, and every pain that comes with it.
"Go ahead, idiots. We've got nothing." I roll my eyes. Mylo just had to say something, didn't he? Powder backing away timidly, clutching her pouch, catches my attention. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion before my eyes widen, realization dawning on me. I look up to Violet, wanting to tell her, only to see she's already looking at Powder. She snaps her head over to me and Clagger, nodding towards the switch to turn off all the lights, only leaving certain glow-in-the-dark colorings made by me and Powder.
Clagger reaches forward and slams the switch down, grabbing me, and running. Clagger helps me run, holding me by my waist but still letting me run, he's simply taking some of the pressure off my leg.
We get to the door right when Violet and Powder do, Vi holding Powders arm and slamming the door open. Violet seems relieved to see me, but she goes straight back to running.
We continue running down the alleyway, until Violet abruptly stops, making me and Clagger bump into her, me more than Clagger. I look and see two Enforcers over a man the was pushed up against a wall. We turn back around, only to see that we're cornered, enforcers blocking both of our escape routes. That is, until we hear a sharp whistle from above.
Sighs erupt throughout our group when we see Ekko throwing down a ladder for us to climb. Vi jumps up, going first. She pulls Powder next. Then, before she can grab me, Mylo pulls himself up. Though, Clagger is kind enough to let the hurt one go first. I fall straight on my ass, my leg giving out. Clagger gets up, though some enforcers grabbed his ankle but he took care of them.
Violet helps me up, wincing when she sees the pained expression on my face.
"You need to get rid of those crystals." I look at Powder, nodding and agreeing with what Vi is saying. She rolls her eyes "Yeah, no shit." Her snarky remark makes me let out a chuckle.
~It's 1 am, I haven't had any more than 4 hours of sleep in the past two days, and my computer is at 1%. I'm so happy that I finished this tonight. Whew, to sleep I go. Goodbye. Love Y'all.
