Ding dong!

Chuck ignored the doorbell, knowing his mother would answer it eventually, and he was too deep in this game right now to stop for even a moment. About a minute of button mashing passed before it rang again.

Ding dong!

He huffed, glancing at his clock and doing a double take. When did it get so late? And who the hell is ringing at this time? His mother would be very cranky if she were awoken now, so he quickly paused his game and headed upstairs. He grabbed his condiment ray on his way up, neglecting to check who it was before he opened the door. A gust of frigid wind crashed into the warmth of his home, sending a shiver down his spine as he pointed the weapon at this late visitor.

"Okay wise guy, now what are you do-" Chuck paused and quickly lowered the weapon. "Two Brains? You know you're not allowed over here, what are you doing?"

"Oh, uh," Two Brain's teeth were clattering as he spoke. Chuck would have passed it off as a mouse thing, but the mad scientist was shivering from head to tail tip and feverishly rubbing at his arms, and Chuck was sure that was not a mouse thing. "Heyyy Chucky baby, mind letting me in for a while?"

"It's midnight, Doc."

"Yeah? And I'm freezing my tail off out here, so can you just let me in?" He stopped rubbing his arms to clasp his hands together. "Please?"

Chuck rolled his eyes, though he was not actually annoyed, and stepped aside for Two Brains to come in. He did so and pulled Chuck into a hug as soon as he closed and locked the door. He was as cold as ice, so cold it caused Chuck to shiver as well.

"Let's go to my room, I don't want my ma seeing you. Or hearing you, so be quiet." Chuck led the taller man down to the basement and the scientist quickly collapsed on his couch and pulled the blankets on top of himself. Chuck set his condiment ray aside as he pulled another blanket from his bunk bed and threw it on top of the trembling lump of fabric that was Two Brains.

Chuck sat on the ground next to him, smiling softly. "So, wanna tell me what you're doing over here at," He glanced at the clock. "12:48 PM?"

Two Brains peeked his head out of the blankets. "I don't know if you noticed, but it's cold as fuck out there. My warehouse isn't exactly endothermic." When he saw Chuck's raised eyebrow, he buried himself a little more in the blankets. "It doesn't keep heat well. Point is, thanks for letting me stay the night."

"Hey, I never agreed to that." Chuck pulled himself up onto his couch, moving the blankets so Two Brains would curl up until he was only laying on half the cushions and sat down. "But you can stay, yes. What about your henchmen?"

"They're already staying with someone, and they didn't have room for me." Two Brains sat up, wrapping the blankets more firmly around him, and leaning his head on Chuck's shoulder. "Can you believe it? They really made me fend for myself out here!"

Chuck wrapped an arm around the embittered Two Brains. "Well good thing Chuck the evil sandwich making guy was available and kind enough to let you inside." Chuck struck a pose before poking Two Brain's cheek. "Seriously, I should've turned you away. I'm still mad about you trashing my mom's house."

"I said I was sorry! When are you gonna forgive me for that?" Two Brains buried his face in his hands. "And that wasn't just me." He added quieter.

"Never. 'Cause apart from being Chuck the evil sandwich making guy, I am also Chuck the evil grudge holding guy."

"Your titles are so long, I much rather baby or cutie." Two Brains giggled as he poked his pudgy nose. He pressed a kiss to his cheek before adjusting until he was laying on Chuck's chest. Two Brains wrapped his arms around his partner's back and, with a contented sigh, closed his eyes. "You're much warmer than outside."

Chuck snorted. "You could say I'm pretty toasty, huh?"

Two Brain's eyes shot open to glare at his lover disapprovingly. "You ruined it." Against his own wishes, Two Brains grinned and quickly hid his face in Chuck's chest.

"You thought it was funny." Chuck rubbed circles on his back, and Two Brains wrapped his tail around Chuck's leg, something the bigger man found he only did when he felt safe and comfortable.

"No, I was smiling because you're cute."

"Because you thought my pun was funny."

"No!" Two Brains grumbled, and Chuck giggled as he picked his controller up.

"I'm gonna continue my game now, is that alright?"

Two Brains waved his hand, and Chuck smooched the top of his head before unpausing the game. "Just tell me if ya need me to turn down the volume."

Two Brains slowly fell asleep to the sound of the game and Chuck's rhythmic heartbeat. Chuck fell asleep soon after, abandoning the controller on the floor as he wrapped both of his arms around his lankier boyfriend, and closed his eyes.
