"He has been my only clarity."
------------------
“Where do you think you’re going?”
A harsh voice slashed the tense air.
I lifted my head slowly concentrating on the raging man in front of me. Sweat stained my exhausted body and my breath came out in heavy pants.
“Are you gonna speak, rogue?”
He spoke, his voice louder, his voice much stricter.
I cocked an eyebrow in a challenging mode. I was in no mood for this guy, and there’s absolute no way that I would care.
“You have crossed my pack’s territory, you know?” He continues.
I merely shake my head at him.
“You don’t want to mess with me, boy.” I answered mockingly, shoving him out of the way.
I’m heavily panting from all this running. How long have I been on the road?
My eyes narrow at the guy lying on the floor now. Everything was happening too rapidly as I felt yet another person’s presence.
“What’s the problem here?!” A rampant voice boomed in the forest.
My eyes darted to a strong built man- in his late forties. He walked stiffly to find a thrown man grumbling angrily on the floor and a woman with ragged over-worn clothing: myself.
From the way his eyes glittered and glistened under the moonlight, I could feel a sense of familiarity.
I could tell right away who he was. Alpha of “Silver Woods.”
‘Great.’ My wolf mumbled in frustration.
The man and his Alpha seemed to share a mental conversation. I stood there my eyes wandering around the greeneries. How did I reach here? Where am I? Who was I running from?
A pang struck my heart unwillingly as I remembered. I’ve been driven wildly by tangles of deep emotion. An emotion of utter loss.
I could hear the rattling of keys next to me and I should have sprinted for my life. But, I didn’t. I suddenly recalled all of the controlling feelings and I let them take over. Unlike rage that just caused me to disrespect another pack’s member, this feeling was much more dangerous: Heart break.
It froze me on the spot as cold arms clasped on my thin wrists.
“Leave her to me.” The Alpha ordered finally.
He dragged me through the dark and I cast my eyes downward, staring at anything but him.
“Where are you from?”
The Alpha questions.
“From some ruins.” I answered sarcastically.
“What?!”
“It was once not ruined I guess. It’s a bit far from here.” I reply straightening myself.
“Who’s your mate?”
I remove my gaze from the ground and stare right at the Alpha. His grip tightens as if to warn me from any forms of disrespect.
I see his eyes tracing the mark on my neck and I directly hide it, feeling naked from the two most shattering questions he could have asked.
“Long lost mate.” I replied shortly.
He nodded once and said, “You aren’t fighting me.”
“I know.”
I looked around searching the place we have reached. There wasn’t much to see but his eyes find a door handle and he harshly twists it throwing me inside.
“Why aren’t you fighting me?”
“I don’t know.” I reply uncomfortably.
“You do realize that rogues like you are killed.”
“Mmmm…. Interesting.” I mumble.
He bends down and swiftly pushes my chin up, “I wander how bad it has been with you, that you didn’t even try to save yourself from me.”
The way he looks at me makes me feel as if he knows something that I don’t.
My back is slammed to the ground creating an aching feeling.
With that he leaves. I look around.
The prison cell was a hollow cube of concrete, one way in, no way out. It was totally disorientating by design. Given enough time a person could forget their own name in there. The isolation was total and the stimulation was zero. No sound, no light, no furniture or cloth of any kind.
All an inmate could do here is to feel the cool walls, but even they were jagged.
