A/N sorry for the short chapters!!! I really am!
Despite the hate the school shows me. Despite the hate my father shows me. Despite the hate this world shows me I still some how find my self still breathing, still unhurt by their deep cuts and their stings.
I guess after a while you just get use to them.
People often remind me of pigeons. Fighting over shit that's doesn't always belong to them. Annoying half of the time and gone the other half.
They're never nice.
The school bell rings allowing all of us to push threw the 2 doors provided for us to squeeze threw to escape the brutal winter.
The cold stings at my thighs that are uncovered by the rips in my jeans.
My face is a bright red. Almost like a tomato. I am a tomato. I bleed red just like one to.
Glancing around the school hallways my eyes roam for my best friend, Luna.
She's not hard to pick among a crowd of people. Her bright pink her and cheerful smile and loud voice. He deep brown eyes.
"Amber!" A voice calls from behind me. Turning around once again bring ripped from my thought, being ripped from my world, I see Luna standing in front of me with her bright big smile.
I smile, "what's behind your back?" I cock my head.
"OH nothing!" She drags on the G as she blushes.
"Ok ok I can't hold it anymore! Happy birthday!!" Her hands are being held out in front of her.
I take a glance at her hands. In her palms is a small box wrapped in brown paper with my name on it.
Her sloppy hand writing makes me giggle.
"Thank you" I chuckle and reach for the gift.
"Wait!" She moves her hands away from me.
"Before you can have it where did you get that bruise on your cheek from?" She raises an eyebrow.Shit.
"Oh I ran into something and it hit my cheek." I force a smile and swallow my fear.
Why did she have to remind me? It's not her fault nor does she know what's going on at home but... Why?
"Ok, I hope it gets better." She relaxes her worried face and hands me the box.
I had forgotten it was my own birthday. Even my own father forgot.
He normally does but it hurt a lot more then it should.Another sting...
Tearing at the wrapping paper I hear a boys voice call, "nice ass!"
Was that to me?
No no. I'm just as flat and card board. Just as flat as this paper I'm tearing apart.
"Ignore them." Luna chuckles.
"Easy for you to say. Nicks a bitch. And plus it wasn't even for me." I laugh and open the small black box.
My eyes shimmer at the diamond necklace.
"Wow! Thank you Luna, It's gorgeous!" I smile and began to put it on.
"Here let me help you." Luna smiles and takes the necklace from my hand.
"Turn around." She says.
She fumbles with the necklace, "nick is a bitch I agree with you there. Maybe the remark on someone's ass wasn't for you. But it sure as hell was ment for someone." Clipping the necklace on she turns me around and glares into my eyes.
I feel like a princess.
Smiling the bell rings and Luna begans to pace herself to her class.
"Thank you" I shout as I wave goodbye.
Without her turning around I can feel the warmth of her smile.
Maybe this world isn't that bad...
Maybe.
