Pollen's pov

I was walking around a new town, my father was a trader and we sailed to amazing places so he could sell and trade with others.

I saw a notice for a dance in the town square happening tonight. "I must go!" I said to myself before rushing to the tavern were we were staying and heading to my room. "Father!, I just found out about a dance happening tonight, can we go please?" My father looked up from the desk and sighed. "I'm sorry dear, I am very busy tonight."

I kneeled down infront of him and pleaded. "Could I go by myself please? I will be back before dark." My father smiled and helped me up. "Yes you can go... but promise no boys." He warned me, I smiled and laughed, "Of course not father."

Before I knew it the dance had started and I had only been there a few minutes before the announcer called for a ribbon dance. I sat down and watched as all the women with their ribbons came into the middle. They spoke amongst themselves before agreeing on a dance and then they started.

I watched as one girl danced so freely, so beautifully, like she had no cares in the world. Soon each woman grabbed a man to dance with them but the girl looked at me. I shook my head. She smiled and started dancing whilst the they all sang. "Come take my hand and dance with me." I smiled and stood up.

She started dancing with me jsut following the motions as she twirled the ribbon around me. "My father told me not to dance with young men." I said as we got closer into the dance. "Well it's a good thing I'm not a man then." She said before helping me dance and for the first time in my life, I was having true fun, as I danced I felt so free and safe.

The song ended and the girl brought me away from the center. "So what brings a trader's daughter to a party like this?" I was confused by that question. "How did you know?" I asked first the girl smiled and answered. "I saw you get off the ship." I nodded and asked my second question. "Am I not welcomed to this party?" The girl bit her lip which made me feel butterflies. "You are... I just assumed you would rather stay at home so late." She answered.

I turned away from her but she took my hand. We then both heard someone talking about us. "What are they doing so?" I heard so the girl took me away and under a bridge. "You are so beautiful." The girl smiled as she held my hand, I played with our fingers before repeating her. "You are beautiful too." We both blushed and the girl smiled at me before whispering. "My name is Meg." I smiled and answered back with. "And my name us Pollen." We both smiled before she kissed me on the lips and handed me her ribbon. "When do you leave?" She asked I sighed and answered. "In two weeks." Meg smiled and kissed me again. "I'll see you around then."

And like that she was gone. I held onto her ribbon close to my heart as I walked back to the tavern.
