LEARNING TO DRIVE was the one thing that Selina had been waiting for since she turned 16 during the summer. She had been waiting to go shopping with her friends, go on road trips and go through the Starbucks drive thru and buy all the caramel macchiatos she wanted at any time she desired.
And also so she could drive to school rather than taking the bus. Selina didn't mind it, she just preferred the car to a dirty school bus.
It was every Wednesday night, a chance for her to learn how to drive and have a long bicker with her parents. They had agreed that Derek would teach Selina one Wednesday and then Paige the next.
Selina slowly drove along an empty road in the family car, with Derek in the passenger seat teaching her.
"So, why are you all suspicious of your old friend?"Derek queried before he furrowed his eyebrows, rotating his head to his daughter. "What's his name again?"
"Theo,"Selina answered, her hands resting on the wheel and Derek hummed. "And I'm not suspicious, Stiles is mostly. He just wants to be in the pack, and he doesn't buy the whole transfer and speeding ticket form thing"
"Well, Paige doesn't blame him. She thinks he's a bit suspicious too"Derek told his daughter.
"Do you think he is?"Selina wondered, turning her head.
"Asking to join a pack without a reason why?"Derek recalled. "Yeah, I'd say that's a bit odd"
"He said that the Alpha who bit him was killed by two of his own betas. Twins, actually"Selina told her Dad, trying to look at him and keep her eyes on the road at the same time. "So he does have a reason, actually; he has no pack"
"Eyes on the road"Derek reminded sternly, turning Selina's head back to the road by her chin.
Selina sighed annoyed, "And you've said on more than one occasion that lone wolves; omegas, don't make it on their own. Coming from the same mouth telling me that Theo can't join the pack because his story isn't believable enough"
"I'm not saying I don't believe you"Derek argued. "If you think that's a decent reason why Theo wants to join Scott's pack, then I'm with you. What does he think of it though? Scott? I would've asked him, but I've been busy"
"He's okay with it, I guess"Selina answered, shrugging her shoulders. "Oh, and don't get me started with Liam"
"Yeah, don't"Derek agreed, his face screwing up in disgust as he shook his head. "That's something to discuss with Paige. Not me"
Selina chuckled softly, just as the car began pulling up to a roundabout not too many feet away. "We'll turn off at the third exit and stop at Walmart, Paige wants me to pick up a few things"Derek decided, fixing his seatbelt. "You remember what to do at roundabouts?"
The teenager nodded just as they pulled up to it and turned one of the gears. Even though barely any cars were there, Selina still made sure to look before driving around and turning off at the third exit past the sign to Walmart, Party City as well as a few other stores that were turning off their lights and bringing down the shutters.
