What happened between me and Carlos never happened. We mad that certain after we woke up still in the same bed the morning after it happened. We just went back to bad mouthing each other the next day, as if nothing had ever happened.
Anyways there must be some sort of bug going around, because every morning I keep throwing up right before school. And that is not a pretty sight, let me tell you. Actually I won't because it's just gross. I opened the drawer to get a rag to wipe my mouth off when I saw something.
A pregnancy test.
It's been six weeks, but I couldn't be. Not with his baby!I had to make sure though. So I took it. I waited a while, growing nervous every second I waited. Once I had waited the time I had to I looked at the test. It took all of my courage to do so. The confident Jessica was gone. No instead all that was left was the scared shitless weakling. I saw what it read. Positive.
I took a deep breath. I have to tell him. I have to. I don't want to, believe me I really don't want to. I have to though.
I looked down at my small flat stomach. Inside there is a baby growing. A baby who's father is the worst person ever!
I go to my bedroom after taking a long shower. I put on my most confident clothing, I needed some confidence right now. I put on my favorite pale blue miniskirt, a white v-neck shirt, and some matching white heels. I curled my hair in long thick curles. Added on the perfect amount of make-up then I got into my car. Remerez Auto Shop is where I had to go.I found out that Carlos works on cars there on Saturdays, because I had to get the oil changed in my convertable one Saturday. I wasn't surprise that he worked there. A bunch of his buddies do too. A lot of the Southsiders had jobs outside of school. They had to bring in money somehow.
I parked my car and walked into the building. I went up to the front desk where some Mexican girl was smacking on her gum. She looked me up and down as I read her name tag which said, Maria, on it.
"What do you want?" she asks me.
"I am looking for Carlos Remerez." I said.
She pointed to a sign that said Employee's Only. "My brother is back there. Last station on the right."
I walked over to the door, took a deep breath, and opened the door.
((Carlos' Point of View))
I hear my amigos doing cat calls and whistling. I look up to see Jessica- Ms. Perfect- Laurens walking this way.Hector stops her. "Hey, chica, want to have some fun? I get off work in a few and I know the perfect place." he asks.
"I have better things to do then screw an ass hole like you." she snapped at him.
Then she walked away from him, heading my way. She stops at my station. "I need to talk to you."
"Don't have time, niña. Have work to do." I said leaning back over the car engine."¿cuánto le cuesta?" Hector asks me. How much did she cost you?
"estaba libre debido a mis habilidades." I told him with a smirk. She was free because of my skills.
"Stop speaking with him!" Jessica snapped at me. "I have to talk to you immediantly."
"Listen, chica, you were a one night stand. Nothing else." I told her. "I am not going to screw you again."
"I knew it was a mistake coming here." she said, sniffling a bit.
I looked up from the car engine and looked at her. I saw that her eyes were puffy and red, as if she had been crying a lot before she had come here.
"What's wrong?" I asked her. I didn't really care what's wrong. I just hated seeing people cry. I hated people showing any kind of weakness really."It's what I needed to talk to you about." she said.
"So talk." I urged her to.
"It's something that needs to be done in private." she told me.
I sighed. "Okay. We'll go to my uncle's office."
I lead her to the back. The guys made cat calls towards us as we went up the stairs. I closed the door of the office behind us. I motioned for her to sit down in the chair.
"Now what is it?" I asked, arms crossed.
She burst into tears automatically.
I went over to her, kneeling down beside the chair. "What's wrong?"
She whimpers something incoherrent.
"I can't understand you." I said.
"I'm pregnant." she sobbed.
I froze.
"With you baby." she adds.
"How do you know it's mine?" I ask her.
"Because you were my first guy." she said.
"Your lying." I snapped at her.
"I am not!" she cried. "You really think that I want to be here? You really think that I want to be a seventeen year old mother to a child of a gangbanger? You really think I want any of that? Well your wrong."
She got up and started to leave the office.
She turns back and looks at me. "It was pointless in coming here. I knew it was a mistake right from the start."Then she walked away, slamming the door as hard as she could right behind her.
Jessica Laurens is pregnang. With my child.
