Isabella's pov
It's, unfortunately, cleaning day in casita, the one day we get a break from our village chores, for more chores. I FINALLY finished helping Camilo clean his ABSOLUTE DONKEY PEN OF A ROOM, per Abuelas request since my room was spotless as always-
"Thanks Isa, I would never have gotten that done without you-" Camilo said sheepishly
"you're welcome, I don't think I've seen DONKEYS with messier rooms than you" Camilo chuckled and pushed me playfully, giving me a look of mock-offense
"I feel very hurt, and offended that you, my own cousin would say that to me-" he and i burst out laughing until we got downstairs, the looks on the faces of our family stopped us dead in our tracks. oh no how could i forget-
"It's time" tia Pepá said to us as we got to the living room. Fear washed over me like an icy wave, Antonio started crying "you know how this goes, it's time to choose who's cleaning the bathroom, everyone put your hands in the middle" everyone did so
"12 people should not have to share a bathroom" said mirabel, her voice wavering in fear
"ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS" everyone said in unison "SHOOT" Dread rose in my chest, everyone picked scissors, except me.
"NO! IT'S NOT FAIR!!"
"you know the rules Isa" tia Pepá said grimly
"yeah well.." I stammered "I'M TAKING CAMILO DOWN WITH ME I HELPED CLEAN HIS ROOM" Camilo looked at his mama pleadingly
"she can't do that! Right?"he asked nervously
"sorry Camilo," she responded sadly "it's only fair" Camio looked shocked that hi own mother would betray him like this o he turned to me instead
"Isa please, have mercy!!" he stared into my soul with huge begging eyes, he even shifted into toddler to make his eyes bigger
"No! You think i can do this alone!?!?" Finally he gave in and resigned himself to this cruel and unusual punishment. Even so, i could still hear him muttering "I hate my life I hate my life I hate my life I hate my life" over and over as he pulled mile after mile of hair out of the shower drain.
