A spiky bundle of sun-kissed hair stood out amongst the human traffic in the market area of Konoha.
Bustling and hustling, ninja and citizens alike went about their daily duties. Boisterous market men and traders shouted their products and prices with huge grins on their face while curious customers hopped shop to shop to find what they are searching for. Shinobi of various ranks headed towards the gates with packs on their back. And unseen to the naked eye, ANBU forces leapt roof to roof, slipping in and out of shadows.
Running through the streets, we find Naruto Uzumaki. A blonde haired boy with a loopy grin on his face. Accommodating his bright smile, were whisker-like birthmarks that stretched wide across his cheeks. His cerulean blue eyes were filled with eagerness. Or so that is how they seemed. If anyone really paid attention to them, there was a tinge of silver around his iris that gave his eyes somewhat of an icy look.
The boy was short for his age (HEY!) and was most certainly not the most fashionable person (WATCH IT, KID!). Blue sandals led to orange, shin-length trousers. Garbed in a bright orange jacket with blue shoulders and white collars, the newly-minted genin strolled down the streets, his hands interlocked around the back of his head. On his head where green googles once adorned, the boy proudly donned the forehead protector of the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
The boy, while seeming jubilant on the outside, was in deep thought on the inside. '
I wonder what jiji wanted.' he thought to himself as he strolled.
He was aware of the mild glares sent his way or the wide berth others he passed gave him. He mentally rolled his eyes at their ignorance. Of course, its not liked he cared. No. He had other things in mind that he needed to focus on instead of the petty foolishness of the villagers.
After awhile, the boy finally reached his destination. In front of him stood a tall red tower. Circular shaped buildings littered the small compound, most significant of them being the one that adorned the insignia of 'Fire'.
The Hokage's Tower.
Naruto could sense that everyone was already in the tower waiting in the Hokage's office. He could also sense the hidden ANBU around the compound.
The boy had been woken up earlier by his jounin sensei, Kakashi Hatake, although he didn't really know if he could call the man that. He remember his attitude on their most recent mission to the Wave. He barely taught them anything, except for the Uchiha of course.
Naruto fought to roll his eyes at that.
According to the silver-haired man, it would seem that the Hokage had requested an important meeting with the rookies of this year, so they were supposed to meet at the Hokage's office a half an hour past seven.
The boy entered the building and walked along the curved, padded hallway towards the office. His steps echoed slightly throughout the hall, and he soon found himself in front of the large wooden door leading to his destination. Plastering on an idiotic grin on his face, forgoing protocol and general etiquette, he simply pushed the door open wide.
"Mornin' Old Man!" the jinchuriki greeted his pseudo-grandfather.
Hiruzen Sarutobi was only a shadow of what he once was during his prime. The old 'God of Shinobi' was nothing more than a tired old man who was called back into office after the death of his predecessor. Despite of his recline in power, the man was still hailed as an important figure in Konoha.
His hair was now an ashen gray and his tanned tone was now lighter with wrinkles, and his face bore of liver spots. A grim expression was etched on his face as he looked at the individuals sitting in front of him in his office.
