Prologue

She stepped away from the testing chamber. The girl was trapped, barely conscious, but wide-eyed nonetheless.

"What are you doing to me..?" she muttered, tone terrified yet steady. Spreading her ruined wings, she weakly leapt into the air and attempted to break the glass.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. We're running out of time, you need to stand on the floor so we won't have to use... The hard way." The woman in the lab coat said, her tail spiking. "I, sadly, made that mistake long before you were created."

The winged girl, cautious but curious, slowly descended to the floor. "What... What do you mean?" Her tone was soft now, hatred for the woman dying down.

"The tail." That was all she said, seeming slightly uncomfortable. "No more questions. We're going to need to get rid of your wings. If you're lucky, Boss might just say we modify them instead of replacing them," the woman said, moving her arm to a lever that was connected to the testing chamber in many different places.

The girl screamed; "NO!" but it was already too late. There were two blades that came down, each on the base of one of her wings.

The woman winced and looked away, unable to watch another experiment in pain.

There wasn't any blood, only because of the physics of the testing chamber. It took all of the victim's blood out beforehand, using the chip planted inside of them to simulate oxygen and nutrients. This is what left the girl half-conscious and weak.

The woman looked back to the girl warily. She was collapsed on the floor, gas spraying onto her to heal her wounds faster.

"I'm so sorry, dear..."
