How life began in the days of darkness

As i strolled around the streets of brooklyn, occasionally hearing the soft murmurs of stray , sleeping dogs in nearby alleyways. I would turn my head listening to my sister walking alongside me, she would begin telling me about how in the normal days, these streets would be packed with cars and people walking to work. As I now put my attention to something in the corner of my , I ended up stopping in my tracks for a second until I began walking alongside my sister, Rebecca. My sister Rebecca would always refer to my boy name - Samuel, but I seem to be used to the name Sam. She would always tell me how when I was little, i'd go around the house in a giraffe suit and call myself sammy the girraffy.

"Hey rebbeca..."

" Yes Sam?"

" Who do you think started this mess, which turned into a bigger mess, and into a bigger mess?"

"Greedy people made this mess."

" What.. What do you mean?"

" I mean, a while back, all people cared about was money... and more money, family and love was a second choice, and not neccesary. "

" but what does that have to do with anything?"

" ... Greedy people bought all of this.. and-" rebbeca said, stopping in her tracks.

I turned my head to see a tall man maybe 'bout 6'7 holding one of the biggest rifles i've ever seen. Before I could pull out my pistol he pointed the gun straight infront of my face. As he walked towards me I could tell he wasn't here to help us. My dog, who was next to me, was beginning to growl violently at the man. " Shut up that dog of yours and let me do what I gotta do! " he snapped. I gently patted my dogs head, which he understood meant to quiet down. " Now, Pretty lady, if you give me all your litte cute weapons and give me your food, I won't hurt you... Sound good?" I then turned to my sister, giving him an obvious death glare. Before I knew it her fist collided with his jaw causing him to stumble back into a trash can. as his head hit the edge of the trash can, I gave my sister a "lets go" look. We began to sprint as fast as we could. With that adrenaline rush I felt like a puma... running at the speed of light, running towards the food... in our case, our bunker. Once we were at our bunker door.. It felt like a scary movie, since the "killer" was running towards us, and coincedentally our door was locked. As my sister was looking for the key I ran towards a random branch , causing me to trip before i could pick up the stick. I dusted myself off and picked the stick up, ramming it into the door. BOOM... nothing. BOOOM. even louder, but nothing. my third time.. as they say, third times a charm. My hardest hit yet... BOOOOM... all that force went through my back and into my knees... the hinges on the door popped and we ran inside grabbing anything and everything that is sharp or that could be used as a weapon. We dodged behind the brick wall seperating our rooms and the kitchen. we heard a very deep raspy voice " Honey, I'm home." I locked eyes with my sister ... before I could look back , I felt a very sharp pain hit against my head.. and then saw... nothing.

"You think she's dead?" a high pitched voice asked

" No. I only knocked her out." the same, deep raspy voice snapped at the girl.

" Wheres the girl who was with her?"

" Shes in the bag. With a black shirt on her head."

"I don't think they're raiders, jerry."

" How do you know? are you a raider? huh?"

"I'm sorry. I was just stating a obvious point."

Then a door slammed.

" Wakey Wakey. "
