It's 5am, the sun is only just starting to sneak through the curtains. Francesca opens her eyes slowly, she can see little dust particles flying through the air and can hear her dad banging things around in the kitchen, like he always does, every morning. She sleepily hops out of bed and looks around her room trying to find her cat Kevin. He liked to wedge himself in to small spaces.
"Kev! Come 'ere boy where are you?" She says making her voice higher, calling him wanting to find him to bring him out to the kitchen so he could have a feed before he was left at home all day.
He then catches her eye, he lays between her old wooden bookshelf that her father had made her and her pink worn down doll house. Francesca walks over to him with a slight jump in her stride and picks him up, hugging him close.
"What are you doing!?" she says with a small giggle and carries him out to the kitchen to where his food bowl is.
"Morning pooch" Steve smiles and kisses Francesca on the top of her head, ignoring Kevin. He disliked the cat a lot but his daughter had begged him to buy him for her.
"Here's breakfast it's the special." He plops her bowl down on the table carelessly while Francesca hops into her seat and begins eating.
"What's so special about this?" She asks looking up at him curiously. Steve twirls the cereal box around to which reads 'Special K'. Francesca rolls her eyes.
"First day of school today huh." he says handing Francesca her mustard-orange pull over dress and a white jersey to put on underneath.
"But I don't want to go." Francesca whines finishing up her cereal which only had a few bites taken out of it and takes it to the bench, chucking it in the sink.
"Well I don't want to go to work but I have to." Steve says fixing his tie. He wasn't actually going to work today, he had a meeting with Nat to talk about their custody of Francesca as they were having quite a lot of arguments lately.
"- You fight bad guys and hang out with uncle Tony, uncle Thor and uncle Bucky... that's not work" Francesca says rolling her eyes again and grabs her dress frowning. 'It looks so ugly I'm not wearing this' she thinks to herself.
"Good point, but I'd rather spend my time with you." He looks down at Francesca frowning at her dress "Put it on, mom will be here soon." Steve says packing up his 7 year olds backpack with an apple for the day. He didn't really know what to pack.
BEEP BEEP Francesca walks outside, Steve following behind with her bag.
"here" he says and puts it on her back for her "be good please" Steve smiles getting down to her level and giving Francesca a hug before waving at Nat.
"Come on Frankie" she smiles opening up the door and letting her hop in. "Please don't make me go to school mommyyyy" Francesca says making big puppy dog eyes as Natasha pulls out of their driveway and starts driving.
"What would you rather do instead?" Nat asks her daughter quickly looking over at her with a small smile.
"I want to come fight baddies with you!" Francesca smiles brightly hoping that her mom would think that it's a great idea and that she could come with her.
"I'm sure you'll fight lots of baddies in the future, but you need to go to school for now, okay?" Nat replies with a small chuckle admiring her daughters bravery.
"Fineeeee" she says tugging at her orange-mustard overall dress frowning, she would have much rather worn jeans and a top.
Nat looks over at her "You look pretty in that." She smiles complimenting Francesca.
"Thanks, daddy made me wear it." Francesca replies feeling a bit better with having to wear the dress than before.
