"Lu" a sweet voice called out in a persuasive tone. Only a grumble was heard in response as the brunette shuffled on the bed, hugging the pillow tighter than she thought it was possible.
The blonde lady sighed. She knew she had no right to judge. Her friend, Lucy had all the right in the world to behave as she did right now, but she wasn't going to call of the wedding that was meant to happen in two weeks. Lucy was to much of a wimp to do so.
"Lucy" the blonde said again as she moved from her position, where she rested on the door frame to the bed, she sat down beside her friend, the bed dipping ever so slightly at her weight.
"You can't keep sulking Lu" Tiffany scolded. The brunnette, Lucy looked up into her best friend blue bell eyes which were far more beautiful than her normal dull brown eyes.
"You can watch me do it cause I am going to" she said with a deadpan expression on her face before she buried her head back into the pillow, inhaling the lavender scent her friend was very much inlove with.
Tiffany sighed again. Where Lucy was concerned, sighing was more or less a normal thing. There were times she behaved like a child, a spoilt brat to be specific but she rarely showed it to anyone except who she trusted.
It made Tiffany a bit happy she could see this part of Lucy although the repercussions that came with it was that One wrong move and her friend would be ice cold like she was the first time they met.
"scoot over " Tiff said, finally giving up and trying to pry the stubborn brunnette from bed.
Lucy relented, scooting away for her friend to join her on the soft mattress with purple sheets.
"I called Jake last night." She said softly as she stared into the white ceilings.
"Please don't call his name" Lucy mumbled into the pillow. Tiff sighed. Their relationship wasn't a healthy one and everyone and anyone who knew them knew it.
"Yes mam. I called he-who-shall-not-be-named last night" she teased, hoping earnestly to get a reaction from her. Her best friend didn't give one only diving deeper into the pillow to the point, Tiff feared whether or not her friend was breathing.
"He said he was drunk-"
"-well I pray he dies of alcohol poisoning" Lucy said, cutting Tiffany off rather aggressively.
"You know...." Tiffany started with a small voice, gazing on the ceiling, seemingly lost in space.
Lu kept quiet as a sign for Tiffany to continue whatever was on her mind. "If you really aren't interested, you guys can stop the charade. It's better than the pretend play you guys are doing" Tiffany began.
Lu could only keep quiet, she couldn't find it in her to deny the truth. He was her lifeboat, without him she'd be floating around like an empty shell. "Besides-" Lu continued to speak her mind, without once turning to look at her friend to look at her expression, knowing she'd be easily disheartened. "-playing the charade will be harder with children involved." Lu continued.
"Surely, what child wouldn't notice her dad constantly randomly cheating on their mom. Lucy" finally Tiffany turned to meet her eyes, looking at the crestfallen look on her best friends face. But she had to hold strong, she had to tell the truth before she entered something she forever regretted. It was her one role as a friend, she'd forever regret it if she couldn't do that one thing.
"Lucy, I'm saying this because I love you, but you have a toxic relationship with Jake, one that doesn't have any good ending that I can see" she said. She turned her body so she was laying on her side and completely facing Lucy.
She brought her hand to her cheek, noticing the tears staining her porcelain cheeks.
"I don't want you to do anything you'll regret later on, your like my sister, the one I never had and I would hate to see you in a worse condition than this, knowing in my head I could have done something to help. I could have told you this a while ago before he proposed but you promised me he's turned into a new leaf. Clearly cheating on your fiancée two weeks before the wedding cannot be considered changed. "
" Lucy you've already been hurt by the lying douchebag, you marrying him is another round of unlimited hurt by that selfish man and I would do anything for you to smile" she said softly caressing her cheeks.
Lucy felt her cold fingers on her cheeks as they tried to induce warmth to her body. Maybe not bodily but through the heart. She was happy and sad at the same time.
She knew all of what Tiffany said was true, was she really ready for a destructive relationship. She didn't think so, she didn't think she'd survive it, she'd be to broken but then again. Jake knew her secrets yet he was still with her never judging.
He knew how unstable she was but he hadn't left her not once in their four years toghether, though they'd been feints with the ridiculous amount of times shed been cheated on by him, but he was her life boat.
But what would one do when your life boat, your source of safety in the blue sea, keeps you chained in a particular spot through out. Caging you more than you already were before. When this topic came along, Lucy was speechless. She hadn't discovered an answer yet so she kept her self bound to safety but if the safety was gone, what would she do.
She didn't think she'd survive.
Tiffany left her to her thoughts, drawing her best friend nearer till there was only a Little solace left.
She cuddled her
