𝒵𝑜𝑒 ran all the way back to her cabin and by the time she got there, she was drenched and her feet were freezing because she was still barefoot. Throwing the door open, she ran in, yelling "I'm going on a quest! Help me pack, bitches!"
Everyone was out of their beds in a matter of seconds, trying to process the rain pounding on the roof and what Zoe had just dropped on them.
"Holy crap. You're going on a quest!" Selina started rooting under Zoe's bed for a duffle bag, pulling it out and throwing it to her.
"C'mon! You gotta get packing! You can't leave anything behind." Scout grabbed a few changes of clothes (re: ten outfits) along with deodorant, Zoe's hairbrush, and bag of toiletries. Throwing them all in the small duffle bag, Scout zipped up the main pocket.
"Ok! Are you taking your phone?" Selina asked, picking it up and holding it out.
Zoe shook her head, responding "That's not a good idea. The technology would attract more monsters than we already do."
"Good thinking." Selina put it back.
"Actually, can you hand it over for a second? I wanna call my dad. Let him know what's happening." Selina passed the phone over and Zoe turned it on, walking into the clear space between the door and the sleeping areas.
Putting in the password and opening up her dad's contact, she called and put the phone to her ear. It rang once before her dad answered.
"Hey, Supergirl! How's camp?"
"It's good, I'm good, please don't panic."
"Well now I'm definitely panicking. What happened?"
"So-I uh... I may have... agreedtogoonaquesttosavetheworldfromworldwarthree."
"Zoe."
"Yes?"
"Slower."
Zoe sighed and clenched the fist that wasn't holding the phone, squeezing her eyes shut. "I'm going on a quest to save the world from world war three."
"You're... what? You're going on a quest? Are you sure?"
"Yeah, dad. I'll be fine, I promise. Annabeth is coming, as well as Grover and a new camper. We'll be fine."
Zoe heard his sigh from the other end of the line.
"There's no talking you out of this, is there."
"No. I... I have to do this."
"Be safe, Supergirl. I love you."
"I love you too, dad. 3000."
"And you know the emergency line you can call from anywhere?"
"Yes dad. You had me memorize it as soon as I could dial a phone."
"I'll have JARVIS be on the lookout for four delinquent teenagers in the news."
Zoe faintly heard a "Will do, sir" in the background.
Tony chuckled, although it sounded a bit strained.
"I'm gonna be in LA from the twentieth to the twenty fourth. If you're going on a quest, I figured you should know."
"Thank you."
"Yeah. Call me when you get back, ok? I wanna make sure you're alive." There was a mix of sarcasm and sincerity in his voice.
"You got it, dad. I'll talk to you then. Love you."
"I love you 3000, kiddo."
Zoe smiled as she hung up, staring at the lock screen picture of her and her dad asleep in the lab, surrounded by half finished projects and cups of coffee. Pepper had taken it.
