SCP-087 - The Stairwell

At an undisclosed university a female is walking late to class when she hears a sound like if someone was calling out to her, coming from a closed door

She walks towards it as she hears a voice again

Her hand touches the handle as a sense of dread and fear overcomes her but as if in a daze, opens it being hit with cold, dry air

The room is dark with only a few steps of the stairwell being visible so she tries to reach a light switch and can't find one

She's about to leave when she hears the sound of a baby crying further down the stairs

She goes to see over the railing but only sees pitch blackness but can just make out that the crying baby is only a few floors below so she goes down to where she thinks it's coming from but she still hears the crying coming from down below at the same distance

She gets freaked out and when she turns around to leave, she realizes she's surrounded in darkness...

Reporter:
Another disappearance has occurred today at Empire State University which is just one of many in a long string of disappearances which leave police baffled on what is happening.

An SCP researcher by the name of Jacob Conwell turns off the TV and is in the middle of a meeting

Conwell:
5 disappearances within the past month and a half, no traces, no clues, all last spotted in the administrative building. It's our job now to figure out what's causing it because it sure sounds anomalous to me.

An agent named Max Lombardi raises his hand

Agent Lombardi:
Have we ruled out kidnapping?

Conwell:
No.

Agent Lombardi:
Then what the fuck are we doing?

Conwell:
Well that's where we're in luck Lombardi, cause we're Oscar Mike.

Conwell and Lombardi arrive at ESU and start interviewing students dressed as detectives

Conwell:

What can you tell us about the administrative building?

Female Student:
Administrative building?

Conwell puts his hand up to stop Lombardi before he has a chance to say anything

Conwell:
Yeah, all students that have disappeared were last spotted in the building.

Female Student:
Well, I personally don't like stepping in there, it gives me the creeps.

Conwell:
How so?

Female Student:
There's this door that leads to an old stairwell that whenever you pass by, you hear things.

Conwell:
What kind of things?

Female Student:
I don't know, crying, knocking. I tend not to stick around.

Conwell:
Okay thanks.

Conwell and Lombardi leave
