-The Impish Twins-

───────────

There...

I perceived the two boys that were heading in our direction at high speed. My heart skipped a beat when they neared us as the boy in the yellow poncho had a huge grin on his face while the red poncho boy looked rather... inscrutable.

I couldn't be mused if he was feeling repentant for throwing a piece of paper at me for introducing their names or if he was expressing reticent. (Shy in other terms)

"What're you guys doing here? Why can't you two just leave us be?" Mirabel shot an exchange glare to the twins.

My body stiffened for a second until the red poncho boy named Carlos handed me the wooden box--his lips were curled in thin lines. I was stunned, yet, highly bewildered.

Oh. I thought.

My hand automatically held onto the wooden box but it remained closed. The box was very well carved in beautifully handmade, I assume it wasn't one of the boys who made this but rather someone who was very proficient. I took a glance at Carlos as he must have observed my hesitation because he then smiled once again.

"It's okay, we aren't here to hurt you. I just wanted to give you something." He reassured me. I nodded uncertainty while still maintaining a guarded look toward them. Even Mirabel shared the same glance.

I didn't expect any of this to happen. I overestimated these two, specifically they just wanted to be my friends; which made squealled in excitement. But I tried to keep it to myself and eased the tension of my body, moderately loosening up my shoulders.

"Uh, gracias," I murmured appreciatively. It would unscathed me to have new friends. The twins veered to each other while grinning and they seemed to attained some sort of unspoken agreement as they both bowed their heads, Carlos gave his twin a wink in the eye. They exchanged a look which caused me to widen my eyes in confound.

My gaze landed at the wooden box as Mirabel watched me in baffled, I glanced at her, telling if I can open it or not but in my return; she just gave me a shrug. Not knowing what these two odd boys were capable of or what is their next move. Whatever it is, I got a suspicion that I won't like it.

Once I lift the lid, my eyes widened as a saucer in terror.

"Ahh!" I screamed on top of my lungs. "It's a dead spider!" I immediately dropped the box on the ground.

Carlos burst out laughing at my reaction, Mirabel as well, screamed in a high pitch once she sees the lifeless arthropod. His twin brother, on the other hand, gave off the expression of sympathy after his laughter decrease.

I glared at Carlos with dreaded filled eyes, I didn't want to deal with something so deadly right now! The poor creature is dead on the box!

This is all I could think about. I felt a stinging sensation in my eyes as tears trickling down my cheeks. Their laughter finally died out but all I could hear was my hatred gut increasing for those twins.

"This isn't funny anymore and I don't know why you two are bothering us!" I stood up to my feet and pushed the boys aside so I can dashed out of their sights. Tears continued to stream down my eyes.
