Another day at school during lunchtime, all the friend groups find themselves at their usual table spots.
The two that are the highlights of the lunchroom are the sets of popular students. The one in the corner was where the super popular kids resigned.
They mainly consisted of Hanta Sero, Denki Kaminari, Kyoka Jiro, Eijiro Kirishima, Mina Ashido, and the star of it all, Katsuki Bakugo.
Not far from their table, just about amid the room, were the casual popular students. They were well-known and liked, even hung out with the popular students frequently. Except, they didn't have a paparazzi-like crowd around them whenever they were walking through the hallways.
The group consisted of Ochaco Uraraka, Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki, and Momo Yaoyorozu.
However, they had another student at their table, only he didn't consider himself to be a part of the crowd.
He was Izuku Midoriya. He was known mostly as Ochaco's roommate and a self-proclaimed outcast of the outcast.
Before he met Ochaco, he tend to be by himself. Not that he minded it. He had been on his own for almost seventeen years. But once the bubbly brunette showed up, his solitude had ended, which he also didn't mind so much.
Still, he kept to himself rather than engaging with the group. He could hear Ochaco murmuring in the background as he continued to write in his notebook. It wasn't school work, as he completed his already. Just some simple writing to pass the time.
"How about you, Izuku-Kun?" Ochaco turned to the greenette, followed by the rest directing their gazes towards him.
He blushes at the sudden attention, "H-Huh?"
"We're playing truth or dare. Uraraka-san wanted to know if you'd join us." Yaoyorozu smiled.
Izuku wanted to say no, but with the look Ochaco was giving him, he knew that wouldn't be an answer she would gladly take.
He closed his notebook, "Sure."
"Great! Truth or dare, Izuku!" Ochaco exclaimed.
"Um... Truth."
"You seem to pick that one a lot, Midoriya." Shoto said.
"It's alright I got a good one, " Ochaco smirked, "I've been wanting to ask him this question for so long!"
Izuku didn't like that, added with the mischievous cute look she gave off while rubbing her hands. She definitely wouldn't be a convincing villain if they lived in a manga world.
"Who do you have a crush on?" She pointed towards him like they were in a courtroom.
"W-What type of question is that?" Izuku fumbled in his seat.
"A question that is important to me. You know how much I love playing matchmaker. Plus, you're the only friend I have that isn't in a relationship. I'd love to see you with someone! So come on, tell me! There must be someone you have your eyes set on!"
Izuku's eyes darted back and forth from Ochaco to the popular table to his right, "I-I rather keep it that way. I don't need to be in a relationship." Izuku looked down, rubbing his arm, "There's no one out there that would like me back anyway..."
"That's not true, Midoriya! You have many qualifications to be a great significant other!" Tenya flailed his arms up and down.
"Maybe to you guys. You're my friends, after all. I don't think I'm unqualified... I just feel like I'm more of a... How do I say this? A person that is meant to stay single all their life. I get to enjoy my friends being in relationships and that's fine with me."
"Noooooooooooo." Ochaco groaned with a little frown upon her face, "Enough of that negativity! Tell me who you like and I'll knock some sense into them!"
"C-Can I just change my answer instead?"
"Sure!"
"Dare."
"I dare you to tell me who you have a crush on."
"Really..." Izuku sighed, "What if I told you I don't have a crush on anyone? Because I don't."
"Aw, come on! There's gotta be someone!"
"Ochaco, sweetheart, maybe Midoriya just isn't interested in anything like that."
"But, Tenya..."
Once again, their voices faded into the background as Izuku's eyes went back over to the popular table, looking towards a certain someone.
Ochaco was very smart when it came to telling if someone were in love, but Izuku wasn't going to give her a straight answer. Especially when the person he had a crush on would definitely never end up with him, not that it matters.
The man he had his eyes on was, of course, Katsuki Bakugo. The guy was probably the crush of half their class. Or perhaps the majority. Izuku predicted 98%. So liking him was pretty much hopeless, especially for someone like Izuku.
A shy nerd dating the most popular guy on campus was definitely not happening anytime soon. Hell, Katsuki was probably into the girls that show off more skin than clothes.
Even if it wouldn't work out, Izuku couldn't help but be fascinated by the guy. His harsh yet soft face, his spiked blonde hair, beautiful crimson eyes, warm voice, built body. He was a dream to look at, and just seeing him was enough for Izuku.
Those red crimson eyes then suddenly met with Izuku's emerald eyes, causing the greenette to panic and look away. His gaze went back to his notebook, trying hard to act as nothing happened. He slightly adjusted his glasses, cheeks practically glowing red as he hoped the blonde didn't notice him.
But, what he didn't see was the way the blonde smirked at him after he averted his gaze.
Katsuki definitely noticed him.
