Rachel Nathanson waited.
'Robert'.
'Yes, Rachel'.
'Is the President a crook?'.
'Yes', Robert said.
'Jesus!'.
'One of the burglars worked for the CIA; the others were associated with Cuba. And they were working for the President's Chief of Staff, and Cabinet members. And this stinks'.
'I know that', Robert said.
'Why now?'.
'Because there was the Korean War in the early 1950's. And Vietnam. And we can't go into a bloody foreign country and win. We are losing'.
'I know'.
'Watergate is the end of the shakedowns'.
'Is it?'.
'Yes. Besides, for a long time, there's been no faith in democracy. And that African-American security guard Frank Wills, sees some tape in the DMC Headquarters while he is on night shift. And now the shit has hit the fan'.
'The President denies everything'.
'I know that', Robert said.
And then the TV was on.
And the crisis was on for the rest of the long evening.
