"When you wake up in the morning, with the sunlight spiraling in through the window as it warmly and gently caresses your face, you don't know what the day will bring. All you know is that, in that moment, you are at peace. In that split second between sleep and awake, before all the thoughts shove their way in and crowd your mind, you are completely relaxed. Then they spill in and your muscles tense and your soft smile drops and you climb out of bed with a groan and just like that, your moment of happiness is gone.
What we forget is to look for those small moments in each day that make up for all the things that make us annoyed, angry, hurt, or upset. The laughing children playing at the park, the smiles the elderly give you as you walk down the street, the smiles of two people in love, in all of these moments there are emotions that will last a lifetime, you simply have to remember that. Even when tears fill your eyes and you fall to your knees from pain or the agony and injustice of something, you need to remember in those moments especially, when you were happy. And how this was one moment where you couldn't breathe.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Put your hand on your chest. Feel that? You are still alive. You are breathing and you will make it. Because every morning, you will wake up and whether the sun is shining or not, you will smile.
