Have you ever loved so much, you would kill?

I have.

Love - an all-encompassing, chaotic tangle of greed and passion and hatred. Pure, unbridled hatred, so strong that any that tried to navigate it would surely fall victim to its suffocating depths. What a fool I was, thinking that I could be the one to finally charter the rocky seas of longing, map the way to pure satisfaction and understanding.

What a fool indeed.

Maybe he loved me, maybe not. Everything was always a game to him, some piece of an abandoned youth trying desperately to claw its way back to the forefront of his mind. Alas, all of that childlike innocence that I so adored in him slowly drained over time, leaving him a cruel shell of his former self; a businessman, by name and vindictive nature.

Growing up, I was always taught that revenge sours the heart, twisting the mind until it is no longer recognisable. I never truly believed it until I saw the bitter despair that stained his face that fateful night. Knowing about his nightly dances with darkness and corruption was one thing - witnessing them first-hand was quite the other.

What a fool I was. I should have known his terrifying greed would one day infect me: an epidemic waiting to happen. All that desire, that dizzying array of conflicting emotions, was simply too much to handle.

So, I let go.

Tell me: have you ever loved so much, you must kill?
