Chapter 1

The second hand struck 12 and the 3:00 bell rang. I heard "Bye Ms. DingDong!" and "Have a nice day!" streaming out of the room.

"Wanna hang out today?" my best friend, Sock asked. He was the best friend I could ever have. This is my first year at Banana Middle School, 7th grade. I'm not sure how, but me and him just click. It's funny because I'm tall, he's short. I have black coffee brown hair, and he has golden blonde hair. We both have piercing blue eyes. He's crazy, and I'm calmer. We are perfect for each other. It was like Yin Yang.

"Sorry, I have e-sports today, but you can watch me on Twitch if you want," I replied. I'm the only popular guy that does e-sports. Everyone else on our team is a nerd. I mean, I'm kinda a nerd but I still fit in with the popular guys. It's a little embarrassing. Like one time, we had a pep rally and the e-sports team got called down. The nerds happily hopped down from the bleachers, but I really didn't wanna get exposed like that. My friends were pushing my back and trying to urge me to go too, but I didn't. It's way too embarrassing.

"That's okay, I'll just watch you. Good luck!" and he ran off and out the door to the echoey stairwell, hearing his laugh among the terrible jokes the others made. I redden a little, and I felt an echo from my stomach to my throat. His humor, not so great, but him.. I gotta love Sock. Maybe I feel a little for him. I'm not too sure. He brightens me up when I'm feeling dim. Just seeing him can spark something up in me. I can't avoid those signs. Maybe I lied when I told those people at the teen center that I was straight. I don't know, but I'll just let my feelings flow how they want to. People fall in love without reason, without even wanting to. You can't predict it. That's love.
