Chapter Two

Kamran Amir Baaz shifted in his chair for the third time since his arrival at the hospital handling his mother's case,he didn't know what news to expect,the silent was killing him so was his thoughts, his mother's oncology and a close friend of His,Dr Mahmoud had been calling him for the past one week claiming there was a matter of  urgency concerning his mother he needs to discuss with him but for the past two weeks his schedule had been extremely hectic,he just arrived from Australia yesterday and today first thing he book a flight to Abuja to see him,he hasn't even visit the comfort of his bed
"Ahhhh Kamran  so good to see you"Dr Mahmoud came in shutting the door behind him" I would have swore you have grown an inch compare to the last time I saw you" he pulled him into a brotherly hug ,Kamran laughed and broke the hug"I'm past the growing stage now" he resumed his seat as Dr Mahmoud sat  down"I won't waste much of your time I know how busy you are " he smiled "we are trying our best but there is still no improvement Kamran sat up in his chair "what do you mean?"
"Relax,there are other method of getting rid of cancer cells,we are considering surgery as the next option but I need your approval"
"Sure what ever needs to be done I can't lose my mother"
"You know I am doing the best I can to help aunty I know how much she means to you do not lose faith"
"I know"
" would you like to see her, she should be up by now
He nodded and stood up,he shook his hand before leaving
   Kamran  softly closed the door to his mother's ward,resting atop her bed,she leaned back against the satin pillows propped against her"Ma"at the sound of her son's deep voice her eyes cracked open and a corner of her  mouth formed into A smile "Amir,I had begun to wonder if my frail eyes would see any of my children before I meet my Creator"she gesture for him to come closer pulling him into an unexpected tight hug
Kamran chest tighten,it hurts him to see his mom in such condition "I was only gone for one week and I miss you "he tightened the hug,a rare show of affection for a man who spend five years learning to suppress his emotions he pulled away and took a seat close to her
" why don't zahid and Aznan don't visit me,it been only three month since I have been hospitalized"
" I will talk to them,have you eaten?he changed the subject cause he didn't want her to worry in her condition
"Yes I ate earlier with someone where is Khair?"
His smile drop"she is with Ali Baaz"
His mother face fell,her smile disappeared, His father Ali Baaz was quite good at causing his mother pain ,just the slight mention of his name could cause her tears,Kamran had stop referring him as dad six years ago when he chooses his new wife over the woman who had sacrifice everything for him,to make issue worst he had married someone who claimed to be his mother's close friend he had lost all respect for him after that
" I plan on getting her next week tho" "khair can't stand hameeda"he joked causing his mother to smile "why?"
"She said she stole your place and she was your friend"
she smiled at him
"A Muslim man is entitled to four wives
Kamran surged to his feet"That should be treated equally,that man hasn't even called to check whether you are still alive or not,he doesn't even know where you are or your current condition"
"He still your father and a good man underneath all the facade"
Kamran shook his head,he couldn't understand why his mother keeps defending him after everything he has done to her " unfortunately.but he has done nothing to earn the title as a father to anyone of us,I could bet a fortune if he could guess our age currently ,all he did was work our entire life and treated us like  accessories for him to look good"
His mother looked at him with sadness"there is always a reason for an action Amir,only if you would look"
" there is not enough reason for one to neglect his children"
For a moment his mother said nothing
"You are right but he didn't neglect any one of you"
Kamran's temper flare up "ma I didn't come to argue with you about him"
"Perhaps if you give your father a chance"
"I would see you tomorrow ma"he turned getting ready to leave,he didn't wish to argue with his mother any further
"I've rarely ask you of anything but a friend of mine is an artist and you know how much I love paintings, I would love if you purchase a couple for me here is her card"
Kamran hesitated only a moment then inclined his head in a nod of agreement, he reached and collected the card then slide it into his trouser's pocket .his mother was sick and he did not wish to upset her any further
"As you wish mother,love you" with that he left to his car and drove home
