Firestar sighed, letting his hackles fall as he stepped towards the grey, Broad faced warrior.
' Greystripe.' He dropped his head in submission, before jolting it up at a familiar hiss from behind.
' What is he doing here?' Dustpelt spat, unsheathing his claws. Everybody knew that Dustpelt and Greystripe's relationship couldn't be classed as friends. Greystripe narrowed his eyes at the floor, and Firestar could tell he was regretting coming, however, he wanted to know why Greystripe had come.
' Why are you on thunderclan territory? Surely Leopardstar has better ideas than to send traitors to other nests!' Dustpelt grumbled again, and there were mumbles of agreement.
' Leapordstar is dead.' Greystripe looked up from his paws, at Firestar, and the rest of the clan, he looked mournful.
' I see.. well, who's deputy, then? ' Firestar tilted his head, kneading the ground in anticipation. He assumed it would be Mistyfoot, maybe even a bloodthirsty cat from another clan, but he stepped back in shock at what Greystripe said next.
' I- I am, Firestar. I'm the new leader.. '
Firestar felt a pounding in his head. He hadn't spoken to his old friend in so long, he hadn't even noticed he had bend made deputy!
' I'm travelling to the moonstone tomorrow.' He continued, starting to turn away.' I'll see you then.. '
As the grey warrior bounded away, furious cats hissed, bursting with questions. Firestar grumbled, padding across to the medicine cats den.

' Hi!' Firestar pushed through the lichen which lined the entrance to Cinderpelt's den. When he was with her, he lost all sense of leadership.
Cinderpelt had once been Cinderpaw, Firestar's apprentice. However, she was caught in a trap and was told she'd never become a warrior. The she-cats grief was seen for weeks, before she began helping the late Yellowfang in her den.
'What do you want now? Can't I ever get any peace?' Her tone was challenging, however, there was a hint of teasing in her mew.
' I'd actually like to talk about Greystripe. I have news about him.'
' You think I can't hear? You and the rest of them were yowling so loud even poor StarClan could hear you! ' She limped over to her berries, chewing them up and spitting them out.
' It wasn't my fault. I was shocked to see him. I didn't even know he was deputy, and now clan leader! I thought he wanted to return to Thunderclan, before Bluestar disagreed. '
Cinderpelt sighed, looking up at him.
' Firestar, StarClan has destinies for us all.. maybe Greystripe's was.. different.'
' But.. '
' No buts. Greypaw, Stripe or Star, he'll always be a RiverClan cat. ' The tone in her mew said that she wasn't going to continue. Firestar groaned, leaving the den.

' The kill is better today. Maybe it shows signs of fuller meals. ' Whitestorm commented, tucking into his mouse next to Firestar.
' Mhm.. '
' Something on your mind..?'
' You know when Greystripe came earlier? Why did he tell us..?'
' Well, that's his decision. Maybe he thought you'd support his new role. ' The old cat licked his lips, sitting up and curling his tail around his paws.
' I did support him, right..? '
' Firestar, I remember you as an apprentice. You're strong, a brave warrior, an amazing leader, however, you really need to learn how to read emotions.' He stood up, walking to the nursery, most likely to see his kits.
