“That mark, it’s a Destiny bond, isn’t it?” The man stared down at the child in his wife’s arms knowing he didn’t need to hear her response to know he was right. She had been in the world for less than an hour and her life was bound never be her own.

The woman would nod slowly and pull the blanket over the birthmark on the child’s outer thigh. “At least it will be easy enough to conceal, it could be worse…”

With an exhausted sigh the man would sit beside her on the bed. “If our daughter is found out they will come for her, whether she is part of the prophecy or not they will not discriminate.”

His wife would smile softly at him then back at the child. “She will be strong, if she is part of the prophecy, then they will never catch her.”
