In the Sick Bay, a long line of pictures hung on the far left wall beside the medicine cabinet- in every one of them, creatures were smiling sporting stickers and sometimes bandages. The ones hung on the wall were only a few of his patients, but Peso could look into the medical records, which were always carefully recorded, updated, and saved to his account (courtesy of Dashi) and see more smiling faces, and sometimes even messages his past patients had left for him, usually expressing thanks.
Patients who had longer-lasting injuries, something worse than a scrape or a strain, often stayed aboard the Octopod while recovering. Peso would treat them gently, knowing how scary it could be to have to sleep in a new place overnight, sometimes for months. He encouraged the rest of the crew to talk to the new creature sometimes, hoping friendly interaction with his crewmates would help the creature settle. The Vegimals always did everything in their power to help the creature get comfortable, from constantly feeding them to going out and fetching plants or rocks from their natural habitat to adorn their temporary home on the Octopod. Some creatures had injuries that took as much time as six months to heal, but none of the crew complained and Peso never lost his caring disposition towards the creatures.
In fact, Peso actually quite enjoyed helping the creatures get better. While he wished they didn't have to get hurt in the first place, it gave him so much joy to hear, "It feels better!" in a voice that was partially surprised, and eternally grateful. He often formed strong friendships with his patients, and he always made sure to stop by and say hello whenever the Octonauts were in the area where they lived.
Sometimes, on dark and lonely nights when Peso was worried about something or scared or even simply sad, and he couldn't go to any of his friends for whatever reason, he would pull out his personal tablet from his nightstand drawer and click into the medical records.
A video of Nora the Remora fish, laughing and looking the happiest he'd ever seen her as she successfully stuck and un-stuck to a rock.
A photograph of Leo the Lion's Mane Jelly, waving at the camera, his little fish friends swimming around excitedly and playing tag with the Vegimals.
A sea sponge, louse-free, had left a note on her medical record (or had probably asked someone else to type it out since she didn't have paws or flippers), saying "Thank you so much for your help, Peso! I look forward to seeing you again, and keep helping creatures!"
The memories from all the creatures he'd saved always made him smile.
