Closing my curtains I quickly dress in my bedclothes. The feeling I am being watched hasn't gone away yet and I can't wait to leave for the beach. As I neatly place my already packed bag onto the floor I catch a glimpse of a flash outside. Was that a camera? I think to myself.
I hurriedly turn off my light and jump into my bed relieved. Whatever it was, it's been happening a lot lately and it should end tomorrow. Scared to confront my aunt- whom I live with - about it, I call my closest friend Liam. Liam and I go way back. He's by far my closest friend; I even call him Lima, a nickname that has become an inside joke.
He answers after the third ring and I instantly feel at ease, he has that affect on people."Jaide, to what do I owe this pleasure?" the humor in his voice lifts my mood.
After a few seconds I reply, "Liam, it's happened again."
"I'll be there in five minutes, do not open the window until you hear the knock." he hangs up.
Slowly climbing out of bed I turn the light on and lock my door. As much as my aunt adores Liam, she doesn't allow boys in the house after 7:00, it's 11:00.
It is not that she doesn't trust me, she just doesn't trust the boys I guess. I am very glad to have her though, after the loss of my parents she was the only one there for me.
As the clock strikes 11:07 I hear the secret knock at my window.I peer through and see Liam's worried eyes and open it.
He climbs in and I feel the warmth of his chest embracing me.
"Jaide, are you alright love?"
"I am perfectly fine Lima, you didn't have to come you know." I say shamefully.
"If I didn't want to be here you know I wouldn't, I just needed to know you were safe. I told my mum that I'd be spending the night at a friend's house, so if you could grab my sweats from my drawer that would be great love."
I sigh, knowing there is no way to persuade him to go home. If there's one thing everyone knows about Liam, it is the fact that he is very stubborn.
I walk over to my dresser and grab his sweatpants and sweat shirt smelling his amazing scent.
I love Liam, I really really do; but him and I could never be a thing, and he knows that. We tried once, and thank goodness it didn't ruin our friendship.
I hand him his clothes that I wear sometimes when he isn't here. He knows I do, but doesn't say anything so I assume he doesn't mind.
He walks into the bathroom that is attached to my room and is sure to be quiet.
As he is in the bathroom I take off my shirt and throw on another one of his sweatshirts that he's left here on purpose.
In the few seconds I am only in my bra, I hear another snap and see another flash."Liam, can you come out here?" I say without hesitation.
He comes out, without a shirt, and I feel my heart skip a beat; but I'm too petrified to make a comment.
"It happened again, I was changing my shirt and I saw another flash, Liam I'm going to go and check it out."
Before he can protest I open up my window and slide out. I hear the rustling of leaves and jump back a few steps.
"W-w-ho's out there?" I manage to stutter.
As the last word leaves my mouth I feel someone grab my shoulder.I jump and swing around ready to hurt someone, but thankfully it's Liam. He grabs me and pulls me close.
"Jaide, promise me you won't come outside like this again looking for the source."
"I promise." I say disappointed.
