Can't Catch Them All

Chapter 1

Hop's POV

"Aw come on Leon!"

"You have a lot left to learn little bro. Besides, you have lots of time before the tournament will even happen. You have time to train and get better." Leon said with a small smile. He placed a hand on my shoulder and laughed.

"Alright.. alright fine I guess you're right."

"There you go! Now, why don't you go out? Build up your team and that scorbunny you just got, yeah?" Leon suggested. I looked down and saw scorbunny smile and bounce around.

"You're right. He needs to get out some anyway." I said and turned to leave. Scorbunny ran ahead and made it out the door before me. 

"Oh hey. You know, if you're ever going to face against me in the tournament, you're going to need a good start. Why don't you take the others? Don't want them feeling lonely, do we?" Leon said as he handed me the two pokeballs that contained a sobble and a grookey. 

"You sure?"

"Of course I am! Now get out there!" He said and pointed to the door. I smiled and nodded as I ran after scorbunny so he wouldn't get lost. We wandered towards the trails that were relatively empty since it was evening. 

"So, what do you think we should do first, huh?" I said as scorbunny followed after me. He squeaked and tumbled into a patch of grass playfully.

"Woah there! Be careful, we don't know what could be hiding in here." I said while laughing and picking up scorbunny. He kicked his feet a bit in protest until I set him back down and we continued on. 

We saw a couple wild Pokemon. A few starlys, wooloos, skwovets, nothing as spectacular as I'm looking for. Scorbunny started slowing down and at one point just jumped up onto me and sat on my head while I walked. I think I even heard a snore.

"Ah... I guess that's our cue to call it a da-"

"AHH!"

"Huh? What was that..!?" I said as scorbunny jumped off my head. He ran off towards the sound of the scream and I followed after him. In the distance we saw a girl getting cornered by a zigzagoon.

"Looks like she could use some help... Scorbunny, let's help!" I said, scorbunny squeaking in response and dashing over. The Zigzagoon turned around when it heard us and growled.

"B-Be careful!" The girl said as she ran from her spot and circled around and hid behind me. I smiled and shook my head.

"Don't worry, we got this!" I claimed as scorbunny and the zigzagoon fought. When the zigzagoon looked wore down, I grabbed an empty pokeball and threw it. 

"You're trying to catch it?!" The girl said in shock as the pokeball shook.

"Of course I am! I'm trying to build the best team ever to make it to the tournament."

"Really??" She said with a small smile. I nodded as the pokeball clicked. I smiled and picked up the pokeball and let my newly caught zigzagoon out. When he came out, the girl squealed and backed up.

"Aw come on he won't hurt you."

"He attacked me just a minute ago!"

"Maybe he was startled."

"...I guess he was sleeping and I accidentally stepped on his tail. I'm sorry." The girl said as she kneeled down. The zigzagoon grumbled and sauntered over so she could pet him.

"Looks like he likes you."

"He is kinda cute when he isn't angry." She said with a giggle. I nodded and called the Pokemon back to its ball. Scorbunny too since he needed a rest.
