A ghostly figure collapses on top me.
I'd already fallen down from the explosion, trying to hold my shield up at a pathetic attempt at blocking any shards of rubble hurtling towards me.
I cough as dust fills the air around us. I pull the ghost off of me, laying them down to the side of me, standing their head on a rock.
I grab their arm, shaking it to make them awake,
"Hey, wake up. Everything alright???" I spoke up in a worried tone. I don't have to say anything like that often - with me living far away from any form of civilization, on the peak of some icy mountains, the literal definition of 'middle of nowhere'
"W-what... Where am I???"
The ghost finally chirps up with,
"Who the heck are you???"
"The names Cynthia, and I guess you'll be living with me, you have no where else to go, don't you?"
"W-well hi Cynthia," the ghost's voice still shaken from the explosion. They could barely spit out that sentence.
"Name's Ghost."
"Really...? Just Ghost, nothing special"
"Well I had a different name when I was alive, if only I had remembered it when i died."
"Well then, you should really rest; you're still in shock from the explosion"
"THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION???"
"Yes, I'll tell you more later, the important thing is just to get you to bed. Are you able to walk?"
They shake their head.
I slowly get my arms around them to pick them up. "I'll bring you to my bed for now." They nod as i lift them up, carrying them bridal-style to my bed.
"There, there." I say while laying them down across the bed. I pull another blanket and a few extra pillows for Ghost, I want to make them feel as comfortable as they rest for tonight.
I hear them mumble something under their breath as i walk back over.
"What did you say?" I ask teasingly, yet still genuine enough to get a non-backhanded response from Ghost
"I miss when my cats would cuddle up to me in my sleep. I miss that warm feeling I would get."
"I actually have a pet cat I can g-"
"No, you can just fill that void."
"W-what?"
"I'm telling you to cuddle with me, I haven't felt any affection in years it seems... I was stuck in this sort of limbo; the same thing would act out each and every day I spent there. That was it until you somehow got me out of there"
Their smile was genuine once they said that last sentence. I layed down on the bed, Ghost immediately grabbing my arm, clinging onto me, pulling us into a hug.
Their touch is cold, but even despite that, it made us feel warm inside.
Ghost was right, it did feel nice.
