I tucked my hair behind my ear, and took a deep breath. My hands were clamy as I stood outside the door, and gave myself a pep talk again. Baekhyun also told me that it wasn't weird or anything from my side to visit Junmyeon at 12 am. Totally, completely normal. Now that I was here, I should have known his normal and real normal had a stark difference.

It was Junmyeon's first anniversary. Last year on this day, 15 February, SM announced him as an Exo member. I bought a cake for him to celebrate. Other members were exhausted from the schedules and were asleep in their rooms. I knocked the door and stepped back when it was opened by none other than Sehun, his current roommate.

"Noona?" He murmured, rubbing his eyes. He must had been asleep. Shit. That meant Junmyeon was sleeping too, but Baekhyun! When I met him on my way from the bakery, he said that they just came back from the practice and everyone was awake. He lied to me. Shit. Shit. Shit. "What are you doing here?" his voice was groggy.

"Sehun, who is it?" Another voice called, and then appeared Junmyeon, his hair messy and eyes drooping. "Oh! Hyun jae."

"It's me. Oh Sehun." The younger one scratched the back of his head. "Noona, when did you become Oh Hyun Jae? You changed your surname or something?"

"It's Alanna." Junmyeon shook his head.

I opened and closed my mouth, not knowing whether to laugh or sank into the ground in embarrassment. Fortunately, Junmyeon saved me and asked Sehun to go back to bed. "I forgot about my meeting with Hyun Jae, I'll come back to you. Sleep now." He was about to close the door when Sehun groaned.

"Hyung, I don't like sleeping alone. Come soon."

I felt bad then. "I won't take much time-"

"I'll ask Chanyeol to come to you, okay? Go to sleep." Junmyeon started walking, dialing a number on his phone. He climbed upstairs and I followed. "Ah, Chanyeol, I'm meeting Hyun Jae about her debute evaluation. Go to Sehun's room till I come back. Yes, I won't take long."

My heart warmed at his caring words. Guardian Suho. He glanced at me over his shoulder and frowned. "Is everything alright? You're visiting late night." We reached the terrace and he sat on the ground. I took my seat beside him.

"It has been a year since we came to know you as an Exo member Suho." I gave him the box, and he looked back and forth between me and the packed cake in my hands. "You celebrated my birthday with me. I want to celebrate your success with you."

"I... Thank you." He took the box from my hands and smiled gently. "Sometimes you really make me feel like I'm someone one should look up to, but I'm not. I lack in so many ways."

"Oppa, don't say it like that." I placed a candle on the cake, and light it up. "You're the best person in the world. For me. You might not see it, but you're a shining star who brings light in the darkness. You're not only a guardian of Exo, but of your juniors and people around you too. Happy anniversary, Junmyeon."

"Ah... Hyun Jae... You made me Kim Junmyeon again. I almost forgot who I was behind these shiny lights." His eyes stared deep into mine, and he cupped my cheek. "Thank you for always being here. I need you here. Keep me grounded always, okay."

I wanted to act as an adult, not a kid who didn't understand what he just said. That was the thing about me, I lacked depth. Junmyeon was so wise and smart, but me? I would take hours to understand what he meant to say in the first place. I really needed to grow my iq level if I wanted him in my life. I was just a kid to him at this point.

"Let's cut the cake." I placed it between us and he smiled before blowing out the candle. "May we celebrate your 10th anniversary together too. Laughing, with full of hopes for a good future."
