(Y/N) woke up screaming and drenched in sweat. It was the same every night, since that battle at Gronder Field- just Nightmares. She heard the screams of her dying Students in her sleep, robbing her of every rest possible.
She heard a knock on the door. "Professor, are you being alright?"
(Y/N) gulped. She felt sorry for those sleeping in the rooms next to her. After all, her screaming woke them every night.
"Yes Petra. Just got scared."
"I am not thinking that that is the truth. You are not being well Professor."
"I said I'm fine Petra!"
Petra said nothing more. (Y/N) could hear Petra shut her door. (Y/N) sat down on her bed, putting her head on her knees. She started sobbing. She doubted that the pain of the memories could ever go away. She doubted that she'd ever forget it. She doubted that she could ever sleep again.
"Leonie, watch out! To your left! Leonie!"
"Raphael, wake up! Come on buddy wake up!"
The Images of the Corpses had burned their way into her mind. She had seen plenty of dead Bandits and Soldiers before, but this was different. These were students she knew. Students she had taught. Her students.
She was thrown out of her thoughts by another knock. Tough this one wasn't Petra. It was louder but careful, as if the one knocking was holding back his strength.
"(Y/N), open the door"
(Y/N) slightly flinched. She wasn't used to him using that demanding voice. Or calling her by her name.
"I'm okay. You can go back to sleep."
"Open the door."
"No.""Alright. You wanted this."
(Y/N) saw the hinges of their door start to bend as the door was forcefully torn out.
In the now doorless entrance, bathed in the full moon's gleaming light stood Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd. His hair was all over the place and he hadn't even put on a Shirt. His muscular and scarred chest was on full display.
And (Y/N) was staring right at it.
She immediately turned around, covering her eyes. "At least put on a shirt before you rip off my door!"
"I was in a hurry to check up on you. Didn't have time to put one on."
"Well you should have put one on before. Like I said, I'm fine. You can go now."
"Not going to happen. Not before you tell me what's making you scream night after night."
"I-"
It was hard for (Y/N) to talk about her reoccurring nightmares. She was used to her former students confiding in her- but to talk of that horrible day herself was hard.
She looked up. Dimitri's blue orb was resting on her face. His gaze was not a demanding one, but one of worry and sadness.
"It's about Gronder isn't it? The memories linger in your mind as well."
(Y/N) nodded. "When I'm in this room I keep thinking back to those Sundays I would wander around the monastery- and then I remember those who I've lost. A-and then I think that I might lose you as well. I don't know what I would do if that happened. I won't lose you, I can't lose you!"
(Y/N) flinched when Dimitri moved. She was expecting him to grab her by her shoulder and tell her that she should pull herself together, that they had to move forward and kill Edelgard. Instead, he started hugging her.
"I don't know what I'd do if I lost you either. You're my Foundation. Without you, I feel like I'd slip into that feral state again."
(Y/N) took a step back. She lifted her hand up to Dimitri's cheek and started caressing it.
"I could never leave you alone."
"Neither could I leave you"
Suddenly Dimitri swept her off her feet, holding her in his Arms.
"Hey! Let me down!"
Dimitri chuckled.
"If this place gives you nightmares I have somewhere you could stay."
His voice was calm and contained. (Y/N) did not yell at him, trying not to wake her Students. She did however- look at him with a stare that could make even Seteth shiver.
"Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd, I demand you put me down this instant Imagine if my students saw me in this nightgown!"
"I'm one of your students."
"That's...different!"
"Just trust me."
The sincere way he said it made her stop. She did trust him. She closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep again.
She opened her eyes when she was lain down on a soft surface. These were- Dimitris Quarters.
"Wha- Dimitri?"
The blonde King was sitting next to her.
"Shhh, it's gonna be alright. Just sleep for a bit. I'll protect you."
Due to the lack of pillows on his bed, she opted to use his chest as her pillow. He didn't seem to mind, as his response was laying his arm around her. (Y/N) relaxed, once again drifting off into the realm of dreams- and for the first time since Gronder she slept without nightmares.
She woke up with sunrays in her eyes. She was still resting on Dimitri's Chest.
"Had a good rest?"
"Mhmmm. I ought to get myself a permanent Dima Pillow."
"Dima? Is that some kind of nickname?"
"Only in private."
Dimitri chuckled
"I should probably get back to my own quarters before someone notices."
"We might have forgotten something..." Dimitri muttered.
(Y/N) looked at him, confused as to what he meant. Then she looked down- she was still in her nightgown, and all her clothes were downstairs in her room.
"Oh Crap."
