so this takes place when the 5 kage had a summit and konoha had given them permission to kill sasuke. naruto tried to protest but nothing worked. but he never gave up, he kept on trying. no matter what they told him, he kept trying, and begging them to let sasuke live.
the kage started to get annoyed and decided to do something that they would regret for the rest of their lives ( danzo did sum to them btw)...
They faked sasuke's death.
as soon as naruto found out that sasuke had "died", something inside of him broke, and due to the shock naruto fell into a comatose like state. And when mizuki, someone who had held a deep haterd for naruto, heard about the state that naruto was in, he decided that he was going to kill naruto. and since no one was really looking after naruto, this was easy for mizuki.
Sakura was the one who walked into the horrible sight of her bestfriend beaten and bruised and barely alive. She immediately broke into tears and called tsunade, and went over to heal naruto as much as possible before tsunade got there. what made her angry was the fact that everyone's concerns were not about naruto, but of the kyuubi destroying the village. she was mad at the village and at tsunade but she knew she couldn't do anything about it, so she just accepted it. everyone was shocked find out that the kyuubi had apparently also had been extracted from naruto. and by the time they found that out, naruto was not given proper care, so he ended up passing. a funeral was held for him with not many people attending.
when sasuke found out about what had happened to naruto, he broke down. yes. sasuke uchiha. who killed his brother with out crying. killed his teacher without crying. killed so many without crying. broke down, for one boy he thought was annoying, the one boy he thought he hated, the one boy who brought out the best in everyone, the one boy who had promised to bring him back to the village. the one boy who he loved.
