It was move in day at your new college. You were beyond excited but honestly really fucking stressed. "Y/n can you please get off your phone for 2 seconds and help me with your boxes" your mother yelled at you from the car. You sighed while locking your phone. "Sorry mom, I was trying to see if my roommate was here yet".

You had been talking to your roommate for about a month now since you guys were assigned, You two have honestly gotten close. You were very grateful to have gotten assigned such a chill roommate. This year was already looking like it was going to be a great one. Finally, away from your hometown, shitty high school friends, and shitty home life. Yeah, you loved your mom and honestly, she would be the only person from Marley you were going to miss. Everyone else on the other hand could respectfully fuck all the way off.

"Sorry for yelling honey, I just want to move you in a soon as possible, so we have more time to spend with each other before I leave.... I am really going to miss you sweetheart" your mom says while looking down at the ground.

"I'm going to miss you too mom, you know that... How about we stack two of these on another so we can finish faster" you smile at her.

After about two hours of moving in and organizing your room with your mom, you and she went to a nearby cafe to grab lunch and talk before she had to drive back to Marley.

"When is your roommate supposed to get in? I forgot her name what was it again?" she asks while browsing over the menu.

"Her name is Sasha. She said she wasn't moving in till tomorrow since this is her hometown, but she did invite me to a get together with her and her friends tonight. I think I might go"

"Aw that's great, I think you should.  You need a solid group of friends down here. Hopefully they won't be like those Marley girls...God, I never liked them" she sighs. "Speaking of back in Marley. I think your father and I are finally separating" She looks at you with sad eyes.

"Good, that good for nothing son of a bitch should leave and never speak to any of us again" You scoff.

"y/n honey I know your upset, but I think no matter what happened between me and him, you and him should still try and have a relationship after all this mess is settled"

"Between you and him?!" you shout. "Like hell is him being a goddamn abusive drunk is just between you and him! He made our lives a living hell and now all of sudden since he's sober, I should want to still speak to him?!" you look up at her angrily but soften your eyes once you notice her sad expression.

  "I will never forgive him for what he did to you mom, He can go to fucking hell for all I care" you say in a low voice. "I don't even want to talk about this right now. I'm sorry for raising my voice"

"it's okay sweetie I'm sorry for bringing it up let's just enjoy our meals, okay?".

After an hour you and your mom finally had to say your goodbyes. Tears were streaming down both of your faces. "I'm only 4 hours away sweetheart please come visit whenever you can, okay?" she says while giving you a tight hug. She places her hands on your shoulders and gently pushes you forward so she could see your face. "Wipe those beautiful tears and go out and have fun tonight, okay? but be safe if you end up drinking. I know how crazy college can get; I'm not trying to scold you I just want you to be careful while having fun" she says while wiping your tears with her finger.

"I know I will be safe; you please be safe too with everything going on with dad. I love you mom"

She starts to walk back to her car, but you stop her by grabbing her hand. "One more hug for the road?" you ask while smiling. "One more hug" she says while pulling you into another one.
