Dreaded thought filled my heart,
The moment, I had met you.
I hoped you would be different,
From unlike, my past.
You told me "I played hard to get"
Though I was just tryna protect myself,
Protect my heart, from heartache.
Time went on,
Nerves built up inside.
I knew it was a sign,
A sign of falling in love.
From what I knew,
Deep down inside,
I was going to get hurt.
I never put it to mind,
Hoping it would never happen.
A year goes bye,
My heart starts to re-think,
Re-think decisions I had made.
Something was going to happen,
I didn't know when,
All I knew, it wasn't good.
Months later,
The feeling I had,
Became reality.
Tears flooded my face.
The numbness of my heart,
Turned into darkness,
Darkness filled my heart again,
Which later became,
Trust issues,
I hold to this day.
All I hope one day,
I find my other half.
The part I have yet,
Yet to find.
