As the early sunlight hit the rooftops of Calnifier, birds sang and townspeople awoke. Wind blew out of Juliet's window, gently blowing her long, fiery orange hair out of her face. As the town awoke, bread started baking, and crops were harvested. As Seren slept, she heard a loud banging. It intensified as the seconds went by.
"JULIET! Open this door NOW!" shouted a middle aged man. "You need to report to the castle! King Aldrich's council meeting is to commence very soon!"
She slowly lifted her head off of her pillow. Juliet yawned and rubbed her eyes. The man banged on her bedroom door.
"Why the rush, Angus? It's a relaxing morning, even for a busy city like Calnifier." Juliet said, letting out another yawn.
"Did you not hear me?," he said, a disappointed tone in his voice. "The council meeting is sure to commence in 15 minutes time, to be exact! Getting up now would be cutting it frighteningly close!"
Juliet's eyes widened and she scrambled out of bed. Angus heard loud shuffling and crashing onto walls.
"It's today! It's today!" she said frantically, collecting her clothes and boots. "I apologize for not hearing you properly the first time, I was half asleep!"
"That's more like it. I don't want to see you lazing around anymore! You should take your life as a princess more seriously! Some people would give an arm and a leg to be where you are."
Juliet huffed, and started to properly dress herself. She disliked formal wear, and made it clear to her father that she would not wear it. She preferred clothes fit for adventuring, climbing trees, or archery. Her top was a crimson, long sleeved turtleneck, her pants were typical travelers pants, brown and hemmed at the edges. On top of her turtleneck was a belt draped across her chest with small pouches on it. A matching belt was looped around her waist.
Juliet raced to the front of her royally designed room and took a ribbon off of a small stand underneath a gold rimmed mirror that hung from a wall. She pinched the long, brooding orange hair above her forehead and began to braid it around her head like a crown. As she reached the back of her head, she took a green ribbon and tied the braids from both sides together, so the rest of it would flow from behind her head. She checked her hair in the mirror one last time, and raced to the meeting room.
As Juliet walked into the throne room, she was greeted by some of the royal guard members, who were eating exotic fruits and fine cheeses off of platters held by servants. All of the royal guard was made up of men, besides her. Elise was her name. Lucious brown hair, tied into low hanging plaited pigtails. Her skin was fairer than the winter moonlight itself, and her cheeks always held the lightest blush, like a delicate pink rose.
"Juliet!" a voice from the crowd yelled.Juliet was startled out of her daydreaming and looked around to see who had called her name. It was Felix.
"You're late, as usual." he chuckled. He took a sip from the wine glass loosely dangling from his hand."Yeah, yeah. I overslept." Juliet grunted.
Felix had been Juliet's friend since they were small. He had deep dark blue hair, just slightly long enough that it got in the way of his eyes. He had peach colored skin, with mild battle scars here and there. Felix, coming from a noble family, was trained in the art of hand to hand combat in the palace from a young age, since his family had planned for him to join the royal guard and bring good connections and coin into the family.
"You oversleep every day." Felix said.
Juliet let out a short sigh. "You're not wrong."
"By the way, I caught you staring at Elise again."
Juliet's cheeks immediately flushed. "W-What are you talking about?!"
