† After Ajax got back home, he locked himself up in his room and spent most of the night reading the books he got. That was, of course, when his mind wasn't distracted by Xanti, the pure-looking bookshop keeper. †
† Xanti looked a little familiar, maybe he'd seen him during one of the recent registration days? Ajax wasn't sure. Ajax had gone into the bookshop with completely different intentions. Before Ajax went to the bookshop, he may or may not have set a building on fire. He had perfectly good reason to, the jerk who owned it previously wasn't paying his taxes. Also, he was ripping off many customers. How Ajax knew this? Well, he was one of the sons of Hades. Nobody outside the castle knew this, of course. †
† Ajax had entered the bookshop to find out information, since there wasn't much about it in the files. But then, he saw him. The pure-looking bookshop keeper with hazel green eyes, tanned skin, and shuffled brown hair. Xavier Faustus. He gave off a sweet aura, and he was very polite, unlike most people in the Underworld, which surprised Ajax. ††| †| †
† Ajax spent most of the night reading, he actually finished all three books, so he got very little sleep. Most of the morning he spent trying to think of where to take Xavier, he hadn't really thought this date out thoroughly. †
† When the time came, Ajax took a quick shower and fixed his hair up a little, then standing in front of his closet. What to wear? He stood there for quite some time before just throwing on a pair of black jeans, a red button up, and a black leather jacket. †
† He teleported out of the palace, one of his few advantages to being a Prince, and then walked the rest of the way to the bookshop. Upon his arrival he saw that it said closed, yet the door was open, so he stepped in. "Hello?" the lights were off, so it was pretty hard to see. †
† "Hello?" Ajax could make out a figure getting closer to him, and he soon recognized that figure as Xavier. †
† "You ready to go?" Ajax asked, smiling although he could barely see him in the darkness. †
† "Yep, I just need to lock up the shop and we're ready to go," he said, walking Ajax out and closing the door with a key. It was then, when he stepped out, that he saw Xanti clearly. It took his breath away. Xanti was wearing a pair of black slacks, a white short sleeve button up, and his hair was brushed and done up. Perfection to Ajax. †
† "Woah. . . You look great," Ajax commented, holding out his hand for Xanti to take it, once he locked the door and put the key in his pocket. Xanti's face turned a little pink, and he stared at the ground. †
† "Th-Thanks," he mumbled, slowly taking his hand. This was too much. Xanti's actions changed the way Ajax acted entirely, he didn't want to scare him off or anything. He wanted to stay with Xanti as long as possible, to actually have a shot with him. But eventually, Xanti would find out who Ajax really was. It might scare him, it might make him mad. He'd probably grow distant, and Ajax didn't want that. It was too early to be thinking of this though, Ajax needed to make their first date a success. †
† "So, where are we going?" Xanti asked, giving Ajax a soft smile. †
† "I hope you don't mind walking, I was planning on taking you to a couple of places in the neighbouring town, Elysium. We don't have to though, we can go anywhere. Elysium is a very nice town, and so are the others. It's nice to look around, though it can be dangerous. I'd hate to see someone as pure and cute as you get hurt," Ajax explained, swinging their hands back and forth a little as they walked forward. †
† "P-Pure? C-Cute? I don't know about that. . ." Xanti mumbled, shying away a little. †
† "Oh, come on," Ajax chuckled, "Please. You're probably one of the most innocent people here, and that's not really a bad thing," Ajax sent him a wink, making Xanti chuckle and smile. They had just entered the neighbouring town, and it was quite the ways nicer than the town Xanti lived in, the Fields of Punishment. There were people out and about, and they all looked genuinely happy. Maybe Hell wasn't so bad. "It's nice to come out and explore, to look around," Ajax smiled, then frowned slightly, "but with someone as innocent as you, I'd be worried. It's nice all in all to go out, but there are bad people with bad intentions," Ajax explained, tightening his grip on Xanti's hand slightly. †
† They continued to walk, greeting a few people as they did, until they reached the desired destination. Smiling, Ajax opened the door to a quaint looking café, there weren't many people inside, but it was cute. They sat down in a small booth, Xanti on one side and Ajax on the other. The waitress came and handed them each a menu, but Ajax hardly paid any attention to it. He watched as Xanti's eyes moved back and forth while scanning through the menu, it was mesmerizing. His eyes were a bright hazel green, unlike so many others. His eyelashes were quite long, and his skin was somehow perfectly tanned. He wasn't big or tall or very muscular, but he seemed fit and healthy, which didn't really matter to Ajax. It was his personality that really caught Ajax, how kind he was. He didn't seem like he belonged in Hell, and it made him a little sad to think that he could've ended up in heaven, a much happier place. But then again, he was glad that Xanti was here, or else he wouldn't be on this date. †
† "So, um, tell me about yourself," Xanti said awkwardly, pulling Ajax out of his train of thoughts and back to reality. †
† "Me? Well, there isn't much to tell, but here goes," Ajax smirked lightly, thinking of what to say. "I am the youngest of five siblings, and probably the most troublesome," Xanti chuckled lightly at that comment, leaning his chin onto his hand, his eyes fully on the handsome young man in front of him. "Uh, I'm quite the bibliophile, a bit reckless, I like a good adventure. I do quite enjoy boxing, and may I warn you, I can get mad easily. It's probably impossible to get mad at you though," he winked again, chuckling as Xanti's cheeks went pink. "Other than that, I'm a giant flirt, and that's about it. As I said, not much to tell," except for the fact that I'm the son of Hades, he thought. "What about you, Mr. Innocent Xanti Faustus. Tell me more about yourself," he grinned, when the waitress returned. They both ordered their food, Ajax getting a French dip sandwich, his favourite, and Xanti deciding to try a Cajun Alfredo pasta. Once that was taken care of, they returned to their conversation. †
† "There's probably even less to say about me, I haven't been here long. Um, I'm also a bibliophile, and I'm very bad at conversations. I like to draw, though I'm not really good at it," Xanto stayed quiet for a while, trying to think of something else to say. There really wasn't much he could think of to say. "I like sweets, sweets are amazing," he chuckled quietly, Ajax smiling and listening for more. "I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but I can't remember anything from when I was alive," Actually saying that he wasn't alive was weird, he couldn't tell the difference between being alive and being dead. Maybe that was because he couldn't remember being alive himself. †
† "That's not uncommon, it's about fifty-fifty with how many people remember or not," Ajax explained. Feeling flirtatious, he reached over and intertwined both of their hands together. There. That adorable blush Ajax had been waiting for. He couldn't get enough of it, of Xanti's awkward yet adorable self. "You know, your blush is quite the sight," he said in a teasing manner, making Xanti chuckle and avert his gaze. It was then that their food arrived, and they awkwardly pulled their hands away. "Bon appétit," he said in his best French accent (which sounded not French at all), making Xanti roll his eyes and laugh. †
† Xanti tried his pasta, smiling brightly. "C'est délicieux," Ajax's jaw dropped, his French accent was much better than his. They ate quietly after that, spending theit time actually eating, unlike any romantic couple from a movie. †
† They paid, taking some time to argue about who would pay (eventually, Ajax won the argument and paid), and then left, taking the rest of the evening to walk into this large, lovely park with a large pathway down the middle. There were a few lampposts being a good source of light, there weren't many people out at this time of evening. It smelled nice, like nature, there were trees full of apples, bushes nearby, and lush grass surrounding it all. It made Xanti forget that he was dead and living in the Underworld. †
† They walked hand in hand, getting to know each other more. Eventually, they got deep into a game of Would You Rather, asking the most random of questions, one including if they would rather live in a hole forever or eat cat tongues for the rest of eternity. They both chose living in a hole. †† As much as they both dreaded it, it was getting late, so they began to walk back to the bookshop. Xanti yawned, it had to be around midnight now. He leaned his head onto Ajax's shoulder, sighing. Ajax grinned, "Don't worry, we're almost there," he said, receiving a small nod from Xanti. When the finally arrived, Ajax grinned deviously, pulling Xanti into a sudden kiss. Eyes wide, Xanti froze, unsure of what to do. Ajax pulled him closer, easing him into the kiss, and resting his hands on his waist. Xanti awkwardly placed his hands on chest and closed his eyes, enjoying the softness of his kiss. After what felt like forever, Ajax pulled away, smirking. Xanti was flustered and gasping for air, but smiling nonetheless. "May I expect to go out on another date?" Ajax asked, receiving a quick nod and smile from Xanti. They waved goodbye and parted their ways, Xanti walking into the bookshop and Ajax to his unknown home. †
