Awakening of the Omnitrix

The Hospital

As expected, chaos ensued in the hospital in the aftermath of the attack. With the onslaught of villagers coming in with injuries now that the robot had been taken out, there was hardly any breathing room. Just trying to walk through with Naruto leaning against him for support was nearly impossible. To top off the irritation Sasuke already had from the attack, Naruto's overall actions, the injuries he sustained, that strange jutsu (if that's even what it was in the first place) Naruto used to create that fire attack, and whatever that creature was that helped them fight... he had to also fight just to get Naruto treated.

On its own, the severe burns on Naruto's arms made it nearly impossible for him to move a muscle without causing terrible pain, but the head injury and burn on his back from protecting Konohamaru were all cause for concern. The nurses and doctors were less than interested in treating Naruto, given that Sasuke was able to catch mere whispers of 'Demon Brat' and the usual responses that there were far too many people in need of help at the moment and they'd have to wait. Sasuke almost laughed at that. Given the whispers he heard, he knew that was just a cover. In the end though, Sasuke managed to get Naruto into a hospital room after using some of his Uchiha influence.

"I told you already that I didn't need help, Sasuke!" Naruto groaned weakly as the shinobi forced him onto the bed.

"Yeah, I know what you said. Did you forget about your injuries?" he asked. When no answer came, Sasuke raised an eyebrow and looked over to see Naruto was passed out.

Hmmph, his adrenaline must have finally worn off. I knew that should have knocked him out an hour ago.

Shortly after, the doctors came in. While Sasuke had to argue with them momentarily to get them to help Naruto, they did heal the injuries as best they could, although Naruto would be out of commission for a couple days at the very least, according to the one doctor. However, knowing Naruto's crazy innate ability to heal from injuries, he had a feeling the blond would be back on his feet within a day or two... maybe not combat ready, but he'd be able to walk around.

By the time Naruto woke up, it had been nearly three hours since the attack on the village. His vision was blurred, barely able to make out the shapes around him. However, Naruto could make out the shape of Sasuke sleeping in the chair next to the bed, causing him to smile lightly.

Besides a couple scratches on him, he seems perfectly fine. That's Sasuke for ya... Naruto thought to himself, feeling the pain from his back spreading down to his toes as he sat up weakly. And here I am feeling like I got hit by one of your fireballs, Sasuke... yeah, that sounds about right.

A small, miniscule groan caught his attention, his eyes moving to the door where Ben was stepping into sight, with a bandage on his leg from where he'd got hit. "Hey, I was just wondering if you were awake," Ben greeted warmly.

"Yeah... just woke up. H-how bad is it out there?" Naruto asked, lowering his head slightly.

"Could have been a lot worse, I'll tell ya that much. Lord Third's extremely proud of you, Naruto, as am I. That thing was tougher than any sentry bots I've ever faced before."

"Really?" he asked, eyes widening.

"Yeah. It was capable of withstanding Heatblast's attacks."

"Where did it even come from?"

"The boss is looking into it. Only thing he knows is that wherever it came from, it was within our solar system."

"So, that means we'll have more guests in the upcoming future then?"

Ben nodded. "Yeah, sure seems like it. Changing subjects though, how are you feeling?"

Naruto shrugged lightly. "I'll live. Ben, how... how do you do it?"

"What do you mean?" Ben asked, raising an eyebrow.

Looking at the Omnitrix, Naruto frowned. "I put a lot of people in danger, not just by using the watch, but because I couldn't stop that robot before it got to the village."

"H-hey!" Ben hurried to the bedside and sat beside his successor. Putting his hand on Naruto's shoulder, the man gave a reassuring smile. "Don't think like that, okay? Look, you didn't know that there was going to be something coming after the Omnitrix. Plus, you saved a lot more just by stopping it, regardless of the method."

"Actually, I wanted to talk about that. I turned back before all of the Heatblast clones were dispelled. When the last clone got taken out, something strange happened. It felt like my entire body was on fire, and I was going to explode. I threw my arms out in front of me and somehow shot fire at the robot like I was still Heatblast."

"Wait, really?" Ben asked incredulously.

That was incredible, not to mention a little scary. If the burns on his arms were from that, those raised concerns, but something else needed to be addressed about Naruto and his clones, however it'd have to wait.

"Yeah. I figured it was worth mentioning to Azmuth."

"Azmuth?" a sleepy yawn asked, as Naruto turned to see Sasuke waking up. "Who's Azmuth?"

Ben smirked. "I'll leave this up to you," he whispered to his successor. "I'll check in later."

With how quickly Ben exited the room, Naruto mused that it was rather ninja-like in nature. "Naruto, who were you talking to?" Sasuke asked, finally sitting up and rubbing his eyes.

"A friend of mine."

"Hmm," Sasuke hummed, which made Naruto chuckle.

"No, it's not Azmuth. I'll explain everything to you soon, I promise."

He was going to have to figure out how to explain everything to Sasuke, if he could. As it stood, this was insane even for Naruto standards.

"Hey, you mind helping me up?" Naruto asked, as Sasuke begrudgingly nodded. He shouldn't have been moving around just yet, but this was Naruto of all people, there was no way of winning that argument.

Helping Naruto to his feet, Sasuke's eyes fell back upon the Omnitrix and started connecting the dots in his head...

Hey, guys.  Long time no see.  Sorry about the long wait for an update.  As some of you might know, I've been busy with my new job and I haven't had a lot of time to really write.  What time I do have to write I've been spending on a personal project.  However I bought a chromebook recently and am now able to write on the go!

Now, the updates should start coming regularly for not just this story, but every story I have in the works!  I've already got two chapters wrote in the last couple days, one for Arrow: Reforged Destinies, and this one.  I'm going to get started on the next chapter for this tomorrow and will go from there.

As it stands, I apologize for the short chapter.  The flow of it was bothering me as the chapter was originally supposed to be 2,000 to 3,000 words, but it only came out to 1,053.  Half of the chapter is going to be included in the next update, only because I think it'll fit with the content for that.
