Later, in the bathroom, she closes her eyes, looking into the blackness. But she can't help opening her eyes. She is forced to look into the brightness again. She wishes she was a dog, because they never have to be big girls or go to school. She turns the tap on as though she could wash away the memories.
Georgia walks downstairs and as she walks down she could smell the food and sees a massive feast. Georgia smiles and eats her food, even though she feels a bit sick with nervousness.
Georgia finishes her meal and Georgia and her mum goes into the car. Georgia says ' we're going to be early '. Georgia's mum says ' no, we're not and plus I'm going to be late for work '. Georgia stomps her feet and gets into the car.
As they drive, Georgia peeps out the Window, watching her house getting smaller and smaller. The sun is shining on her face again, this time it is soft and reflective.
Georgia looks over and realises her mother is crying, even though the sun is lighting up her face. Georgia asks her mum what's wrong, but her mum doesn't answer. Georgia wonders if mothers are always this strange.
Then Georgia's mum says something surprising ' I just ....wish that I could protect you more '. And Georgia doesn't know what to say. She wishes her mum could protect her too. But she knows she is a big girl and that even though her mum can look after her, Georgia is learning that mum's can't be there all the time.
