In a city of California, had a single family. A single father who was raising a daughter.
Her name was Lynn. Lynn was a normal teenager but kept to herself mostly and roamed her high school halls.

Most days, it was very hot but breezy days. Today had seemed off to start with because it had been raining and felt gloomier than ever.

"Lynn, I need you to get up. I have to go in to work earlier than usual. I put $20 on the counter incase you want to go out for your lunch period." Spoke in a deep tone. It had been her father.

"I'll be up in a second. Good morning to you too, dad." She breathed as she turned over to peak out of the covers. She hadn't closed her window curtains from last night so she was able to see the weather. Rain.

"I need you to get up now. I cannot keep taking you to school every day because you chose to be late-" her dad gushed, not even giving her a chance to wake up.

"Dad, I said I'd be up in a second. I'll get out of your hair, okay?" Lynn had spoke harshly as she finally sat up and threw the covers off of her. Her dad did not even say a good morning or kiss a goodbye. He just rolled his eyes and walked on by.

Lynn stood there to hear the front door close before she sighed. She had wondered if she'd ever be able to form a healthier bond than the one she has now. It felt almost impossible to get along with him. He had been a work alcoholic and mostly stayed late, came home and slept early, or just did not want to be bothered on his days off. On special occasions they'd go visit her mother's headstone and go to the restaurant they used to always eat at.

Lynn quickly showered and got dressed. In the process she put on her favourite show, The Originals, as she done her makeup.
"Disgusting.." she said as she saw a piece of mold forming on her blush palette. She had often had to beg her dad for makeup for her birthdays but he did not enjoy his daughter wearing specific clothes and beauty products. He just did not understand.

As soon as she had finished getting ready, she had put things in her bag. Lynn was an overall smart girl. She had worked hard to get her grades up to impress her father, hoping that he'd finally realize she has amazing potential. After all, he wouldn't think so because he had been a businessman since he had graduated from college with a double bachelors degree with several minors.

After several walks down the block, her high school had been near. She was already a grade ahead due to her level of education. Lynn was a sophomore of her high school, was always on her honorary list, but didn't have a lot of friends.
She wasn't bullied often, but on days she decided to wear the clothes that fit her personality and the makeup that made her feel more confident. Most girls her year did not even wear makeup. They weren't afraid to show their acne or red blushing cheeks.
For Lynn, that was different. She enjoyed covering it up and feeling her best, and she should.

Taking her AirPod out, the song on her playlist automatically stopped. She looked down at her phone to see the time. Lonely Day by Three Days Grace.
"Great, I'm not late." She mumbled as she touched the pavement of the property. It was going to be a wonderful day.

After an incredibly slow day, Lynn had been over it already. Summer school had exhausted her but she was determined to finish her assignments due on Monday.
She headed straight to the library. She got her assignments done quicker that way.
She just wanted to be like her dad and learn immaculately. She had grew into being a perfectionist just as her dad was but he did not care.

As she put in her AirPods, she was listening to Pray by Falling in Reverse. She did not think deeply about music, but it was an escape from reality. Reality was often tiring because she over worked herself. Today was on of those days. Thankfully, it had been a Friday.
She knew she didn't have to go back.
