I got out of bed and went to my bathroom. I got into the shower and then put on my work clothes. I did my makeup and brushed my hair. It's my third month at firehouse 51, and I don't know how much I'm liking it. The guys are nice and everything but it's just seems strange. I went out and grabbed my bag. I went into the kitchen. Still no Sarah. The police have been looking for her the last day. I haven't heard from her. I've called her a million times. Nothing. I got my keys and went to the firehouse. I parked and went inside.

Herman: mornin Madi.
Madi: morning.

I put my stuff away. Then I went to the kitchen. Chief walked in. We had breakfast. My phone buzzed. It was detective Halstead.

Where are you?

I opened my phone.

Madi: working.
Jay: can I get the add?
Madi: firehouse 51.
Jay: be there in a few
Madi: news?
Jay: not necessarily.

I nodded. I put my phone down.

Herman: something bothering you kiddo?
Madi: no?

I finished eating. I couldn't really stand eating. I've been to stressed. When I was done I put my dish away.

Cruz: Halstead!
Casey: hey how ya been man?
Jay: pretty good.

I made eye contact with Jay.

Cruz: what brings you around?

He pointed at me. I walked over. We went outside.

Jay: we don't have anything.
Madi: yeah I figured.
Jay: we're trying.
Madi: I know.
Jay: I'm sorry.
Madi: it's ok. Just keep me updated.
Jay: yeah for sure. Are you sure working is the best thing for you right now?
Madi: I think it's ok.
Jay: alright. See you later.

I nodded. I went back inside.

Cruz: what was that about?
Madi: oh uhm it's personal.
Cruz: ok.

I grabbed a water.

Shay: ok. What's up girl. What's bothering you.
Madi: I- nothing. I don't want to talk about it.
Shay: so there's something bothering you?
Madi: I don't want to talk about it. I'm sorry.
Shay: your good.

I walked away.

Shays pov.

I sat back down. She walked out.

Hermann: she's a thousand sorts of weird.
Shay: something's bothering her for sure.
Casey: her heads not on strait.
Shay: you think?
Gabby: I'll call Halstead. Maybe he knows.
Casey: we can't run our nose in her business. I'll talk to her.

Casey went outside.

Madi's pov.

I sat down. A minute later the doors opened.

Casey: Madi?
Madi: yeah.
Casey: what's up?
Madi: what nothing. Why?
Casey: there's something wrong with you. Your head isn't on strait?
Madi: my heads fine. I'm fine. Nothings bothering me. Everything's fine.
Casey: ok. When your ready to talk let me know.

I nodded he walked away. I sat there for a while. Around lunch time I went back inside. I sat down.

Herman: hungry?
Madi: No I'm good.

I sat there. Then my phone was ringing. I grabbed it. It was Sarah. I walked out of the room. I answered.

Madi: Sarah?
?: Hello.
Madi: where's Sarah.
?: Shes fine. Say something to the girl.
Sarah: I'm okay
