Introduction
“You had better make sure that you do what I ask.” A patronizing voice echoed in the darkness of the hall.
“I will set out immediately and bring you what you want.” A more quiet but strong voice answered with determination.
The hooded figure knelt in front of the other.
“We must dispose of this one,” the master enforced. “If you mess up, it will cost you. I will kill the one I seek with the dagger, and then we will regain power. You are one of them, and I regret having you do my work.”
“If you carry your end of the bargain out, I will not fail without question,” the hooded figure replied earnestly.
The other voice answered first with a laugh that was cruel and not at all reassuring, vibrating through the room.
“That,” he told the hooded figure nastily, “is not for you to decide.”

The darkness overwhelmed me. The trees loomed overhead, casting strange shadows and flickering movement in the corners of my eyes. Then he appeared. Nathan. He stepped out of the trees, silent as a mouse, motioning to keep quiet. I held my breath and let him help me get to my feet. He rushed through the trees, his feet barely touching the ground. He was…flying? He was less than a centimeter above the ground, but it was obvious his feet weren’t touching it. Then, he dropped my hand, and I crumpled to the ground. Nathan sped abnormally fast through the trees from me. I was all alone. He turned to look back at me. In place of the muddy brown eyes he normally had, they were a bright Jade green. They flashed before me. Then, he was gone, zipping forward into the darkness. Suddenly, there was a rustle in the leaves behind me. Dark, ice blue eyes blinked in the underbrush. Suddenly, a giant shaggy bear on all fours stepped out into the clearing. I crawled backwards, as slowly as possible. The bear’s gaze was intense, and…familiar? Did I know this particular bear? My thoughts were interrupted when the bear suddenly reared. His paws came down and slashed my leg, leaving a long, deep gash. As blood gushed out from my leg wound, I opened my mouth and let out a piercing scream.

Hey. I'm Ivy. 16. Light, wavy brown hair. Blue eyes. Average height. Yeah. But that stuff isn't important compared to what I'm about to tell you. Do you like pretty fantasy romance books where there's love, and happiness, and the two lovers end up happily ever after with no problems at all? Well, sorry to disappoint you, because this isn't one of those stories. Sorry, that 's not how my life works. What I can tell you though, was that my life was perfectly normal until I met...him. Nathan. He's this guy who moved into town a few months ago. He's so...perfect. I can't even explain it. There was something about him that was so different, but I couldn’t figure it out. I would, someday. Little did I know, I was going to find out in the most inconvenient way possible.
