'The moon's beautiful tonight.' Lily told me, looking up at the night sky, the countless stars reflected in her bright blue orbs.
'You always say that.' I didn't see the appeal in staring at the night sky.
So what if the moon was full? Or if the stars were out? It didn't make any sense to me.
'That's because it's always beautiful, Skye.' she gave me a radiant smile.
We were on the rooftop of her friend's house. Lily had gotten into a fight with her parents and brought me along when she ran away from home.
Lately, Lily's been doing that a lot.
And I know it's wrong, but... I can't just tell my only friend that she's wrong.
She's been getting more rebellious as she's grown.
I just don't get it. She's still the same Lily I've known for years, but more... active... and playful... and flirty(?)
I mean... she does it as a joke, right?
Just because she flirts a bit with me doesn't mean she's interested in me that way, right?
Right?
'Let's count the stars, Skye.' Lily told me, giggling. She pushed me down, straddling me.
'You know we can't, Lily. There's too many to count.'
'It doesn't hurt to try, though.' She said, setting herself down in my arms.
'But, Lily—'
She put a finger on my lips. 'Shh~ no buts, Skye.'
I sighed. 'Fine.' I looked up at the night sky and started counting.
'Hug me tighter, Skye.' she interrupted me. 'It's cold.'
I paused my counting and tightened my embrace around her. 'How's this?'
'Perfect.' she sighed contentedly and buried her face in my neck. I could feel her hot breath against my skin as she whispered, 'I just wanna stay like this forever.'
I didn't reply, but gave her a soft kiss on her forehead as she succumbed to slumber.
I listened to the tide of her soft breathing, signaling that she was already asleep.
As I looked up to the heavens to resume my counting, I had only one thought etched onto my mind.
I'd stop time if it meant we could stay like this forever.

So... how did I do?
This is the first time I've done this type of shit so... hopefully I did decently enough.
Thanks for reading this piece of shit my boredom conjured up <3
