It never lets Sam enjoy her life, not even a little bit. She is yearning for something. It was a want in her soul, something she has never been able to fill in. She was trying her best to understand what was happening to her.
She's done everything to please her parents and match their expectations, she gets perfect grades is captain of her school's sports team, she plays five instruments, she reads to kids in her free time. Besides the lack of any close friends, at first sight, Sam's life seems perfect.
In the whole world, what could it be to make Sam Sharp feel this way. It was like all of her life, all of her dull memories had brought her to the point where she felt like a part of her was missing, like she didn't even know what to do with herself anymore.
Suddenly, the school doors hiss back open, drawing her attention and for a moment, making her forget about all of her thoughts.A girl, her age, rushes into the hall, and Sam's feet finally start to move forward, tripping over themselves. She studies the girl as she leaves the hall, slowing herself down and measuring her steps. They pass each other and she watches, the two of them for some reason unable to tear their eyes away from each other.
Sam knows why.
That girl was the most beautiful person she's ever seen. Her eyes were the darkest of colors, she had freckles that seem to have been pained by gods. She clearly had that shine that was hard to find. Even if Sam wanted to, she wouldn't be able to look away.
Somewhere, in the back of her mind, she registers that the ever present yearning is gone, for the first time since she knew what yearning was. She never breaks her gaze, still staring into the eyes of a girl who just changed her life.
Too quickly, the yearning returns full swing.
