Borix and Fyora completed their journey from Torien to the neighboring village of Rona right before sunset. Rona was much quieter than Torien as it was mainly composed of poor folk, and as most snobs called it, the "disgraced". Nobody wanted to visit Rona and most people from Rona didn't welcome visitors.
Fyora and her mother lived in a community composed of small cottages, or rather huts that were supposed to be called home. The huts were lined up along a cobblestone road, small and cramped up next to one another. Fyora and Borix made it to the small stone home, cemented together by stone and mud.
Fyora opened the door to her unlocked home and was greeted by her mother, Mira Song, who was sitting at the table organizing some berries. Her dark brown skin was glowing as always, her hair in braids put up in a bun.
Mira looked up from her work and smiled. Her smile, however, waned as she saw the state of Fyora's clothing.
"What happ-"
"Tough training today" Borix interrupted. Fyora smiled, grateful for Borix's lie.
"Borix I told you take it easy on her"
"She's doing really well, Mira."
Mira sighed.
"Well thank you for bringing her home. Would you like to stay a little?"
"I should head back. It's quite late." Borix insisted
"It's not that late." Fyora offered. Borix nudged Fyora.
"I understand," Mira replied. She cleaned up the table and put the berries to the side. Fyora plopped into the dining chair.
Borix stood awkwardly in the entrance, contemplating his presence.
"I guess I could stay for a few moments"
Mira smiled and motioned for Borix to join her and Fyora at the dining table.
"I actually wanted to discuss something with all of you. I heard some news about the Faeyne's visit to the palace. Is it true?
Fyora looked at Borix for the response.
"They were moving through Torrien, yes. Something is happening, and I think it's huge. What it is specifically? I do not know."
Mira nodded.
"On that note...I think it's best that Fyora stay in Rona for a while."
"No!" Fyora interjected. "And what of my training?" And then how can I spy on the new commotion? Fyora thought.
"Your mother is right Fyora. You, in your...position, are fairly recognizable. With Lords and Ladies and various travelers roaming around...I think it best that you stay here for the time being."
"But-"
"It will just be for a few days, Fyora. You can go a few days without training right? It's good for resting, and if you really did want to train you could go into the woods for a bit" Mira offered.
Fyora was not going to go down without a fight
"The whole point of my training is so that I can go out no matter the circumstance with being able to defend myself" Fyora inisted
Borix and Mira stayed silent.
"Ugghh, fine. But only for you mother. Only because I know I could put you at risk as well"
Fyora walked away from the dining table and onto the small pillowed cot, that was supposed to be a bed. She heard the murmurs of Borix and Mira's conversation, but as if out of nowhere, a deep exhaustion took Fyora into her dreams.
