By the time lunch came around, Kahira had already decided that her father had been right. High school was a nightmare. Sure some of the kids were nice but most of them were either too self-involved to even notice you or absolute jerks who would shove you in the hallway. So basically, almost every student at Midtown science was exactly like Tony had warned her the would be.

An arm suddenly wraps around Kahira's shoulders, almost knocking her lunch tray from within her grasp and sending her apple hurtling towards the floor. When she turn to examine who it is that had almost ruined her lunch she is greeted by a loud with and eye roll from herself.

Erik smiles at her, his overly enthused face beaming down at Kahiras own disappointed one. Why had she turned around to face him? Now he was going to ask her to sit with him when she already had plans to go and hide in a toilet cubicle to eat. Before she is able to object though, Erik has grabbed he by the elbow and began pulling her towards his table.

"Like a masterpiece." Erik explains to one of his female friends as the pair reach the table, Erik placing his plate down upon the table before gesturing for Kahira to do the same. "You know we'll have this crazy pyramid fall from the sky and then you guys can give each other..."

Just as Kahira is about to pull out her seat, another hand reaches around her to grasp the back of the chair, another one gently placed on her lower back. A small gasp comes from her lips before she turns to some Mike beaming at her. He nods for her to take a seat as he pulls it out from under the table. "It's my pleasure." Mike expresses as Kahira smiles weakly at him before taking a seat. When he finally sits down next to he, he gestures a hand over the rest of the group sat at the table. "You know my friends?" He asks her excitedly, as if one eager photo following her around wasn't enough.

"Hey Mikey." Erik claps him hard on the shoulder causing Mike to wince slightly. This only makes Erik's smile grow even wider than before as Mike glares at him.

What had made them so hostile? It's not like they had a new shiny toy to play with that they wouldn't or rather couldn't share. Oh wait. Kahira was that toy. She hated that idea more than the idea of going back to gym class or facing that Parker kid. The idea of a girl being a boys play toy for them to admire and enjoy whenever they demand made her shudder. Why should girls have to live like this whilst guys get to live freely of that embarrassment? If a girl was to react the way the boys in this school reacted to her towards a boy, she would be frowned upon and called some unholy names that she would never repeat. At least... That's how it happened in the movies anyway.

"You met my home girl Kahira? " Erik asks Mike in another attempt to get a reaction from his make friend. How exhausting must it be to have to prove to your own friends that you're better than them for them to actually accept you? If this is how high schoolers got friends then Kahira certainly didn't want to be involved in any of it.

"Oh. You're home girl?" Mike echoes, his voice fading in volume as he glanced back and forth between Kahira and Erik. Erik, who smirks arrogantly, nods before placing his arm around Kahira's shoulders which she instantly shrugs off resulting in a smug laugh from Mike.
