Hayyy! This is my first pet profile lol.
Zuri was my very first pet❤️❤️❤️
He died on June 21st, 2020, and it was the first death of someone (human or other) close to me, so I was pretty affected by it...
Here's his story:
He was a Great Pyranese, so he was super big, white, and fluffy. He was also so, so sweet. When we got Anahata (my cat) as a kitten, Zuri was so gentle with him. Even when Anahata would jump on him, bite him (not hard of course), and scratch him with his little kitten claws (lol), the most Zuri would do was just lightly growl.
One day, my mom was driving us home from somewhere, and we were calmly listening to the radio. Outside, the sky was a deep, cloudy gray, and it was just beginning to rain. Suddenly, we heard a blaring alarm replace the music, and my mom hurriedly turned the volume up. We heard a tornado warning for a location very near to where we lived, which made our mom curse quietly. She sped up, and soon we reached our house.
She told us to go stay in the basement, and to put Zuri in the garage, because he had been outside when we were out, and he'd gotten wet, and usually he didn't come inside anyway lol. I asked my mom why Zuri couldn't stay safely inside with us, and she said he'd be perfectly fine in the garage. Then I told her that if the garage was safe, then I'd stay in there with Zuri too (I was like 12 lol). She said she was fine with that, but the basement was more comfortable. Eventually, I just agreed to go downstairs, and my brother let Zuri into the garage.
I vaguely wondered if the garage was open, because if it was, Zuri could escape.
I now wish more than anything that I'd checked on that before Zuri had gone, because if I had, just maybe I'd still have him.
Apparently, it had been open, and Zuri had run away. I went outside briefly to try and call him back, but he didn't listen to me. I watched as he turned and loped off onto the street, unaware that it'd be the very last time I'd ever see him.
After the storm (the tornado never reached us, so we were all fine), we were hanging out on the first floor when we saw, through the front camera, a white truck pull up. We all got excited, thinking that someone had found and brought back our dog.
Our mom went outside to meet the guy, and she returned in tears... with Zuri's collar in her hand.
Later, we found out that Zuri, as large as he was, had been run over by someone in all the rain and chaos.
I spent the rest of that day in tears.

Okay, I apologize for that depressing story. I've just never told it in true, full detail. Also, this is a nice way to kinda memorialize him.
So finally - here are a few photos lol:
