Not A ghost, Watson! It's never a ghost
This was a special day for Holmes, a day to celebrate and in double. After a long time, his friend and sidekick (he prefers) is returning home again. And so is his friendly landlady who always does the job of the housekeeper is also coming back from hometown.
Holmes had everything ready, a little of champagne and 2 glasses he could make it a party for that. A little tablecloth over their special table, and last but not least, butter on bread even if it is not luxury it tasted good all the time.As the doorbell rang in a minute, Sherlock Holmes opened his Oakwood door, which was changed recently, of 221B Bakers Street, and saw Mrs. Hudson standing there.
"Ah my only if it wasn't my landlady, I would've hugged and called you in."
"I always felt like your mom, picking up things after you, but fine, I don't want a hug, all I want is to clean myself now."
"Wait till I receive Watson, I guess he's coming soon." He stared at her mockingly.
"Such a spoiler Holmes you are. He really wanted to surprise you" she said disappointed and yelled "Come in Watson" and the army man came in with his leg limping.
"Next time you want to surprise me, just remember to bring your bag on your own."
"Ah Holmes, not your time to deduce, let me do the honor for you" and he stared at Holmes. "Judging by your smile, I say, your enjoyed your solitude?"
"Silence slowly was killing me Watson"He guided him in and Mrs. Hudson was making them tea. They sat down comfortably and started enjoying their bread.
"So Holmes, what happened with your old cases?" Watson asked.
"Finished them all off, all of them quite boring and stupid, and easy, not up to my grade."
"Find some mo-" before he could finish, the doorbell rang- twice."Come in Lestrade, and stand there at the doormat itself, I wouldn't want you to come in with your muddy shoes."
"Yes Holmes"
Holmes quickly got up and went to the door. "Any hurry at all and its always Lestrade and no one else, isn't it Inspector ?"
"Sorry I had to, explain the muddy shoes now"
"Its one of your characteristics, shoes always muddy" Watson gave a smirk.
"Ah the team is back together, quite the mess the old temporary idiots made."
"Nice to see you sir."
"Oh yes, enough reunion, lets pack, it's a vacation to Epping forest. Wipe off the all the leaves and mud on your coat."Just as always Holmes made a little mess and broke another flower vase while he wore his coat "This time you are paying Holmes" Said Mrs. Hudson.
Watson was ready at the doorstep and he left. The forest was looking perfect for picnic, attractive and humid. But they had to walk quite a distance to get to a little bungalow of Mr. and Mrs. Clive. They lived alone here for years as the Inspector said, and for the first time they are facing the problem with-
"There are ghosts here inspector, please believe me. Help us." Mr. Clive said.
Watson was scared. Holmes saw it in his face and commented "There are no ghosts Watson"Now Lestrade turned to Holmes "I know there aren't, and we found these to support the fact it was someone intentionally scaring them"
He led them to the forest again from the plain land and showed him car tire print.
"Something is wrong, this person doesn't have a car and it is someone definitely from outside."
"But how do you know? They might have a car in their shed maybe right?" asked Lestrade.
"Learn Inspector, No key hanging in any walls inside the house, his coat is full of dust, showing he leaves on foot, and his eyes are red, shows he has been in the left of the forest where it is full of palm trees, ever heard that they give allergies to eyes?""And look at his left hand sir, fully dirty with little twigs still pierced in his hands. Shows he has been to the bushes making a way maybe directly to the town." Watson said.
"You're getting better Watson" Complimented Holmes. "So let's see what have we got here. I need all rooms and every detail for them to narrate it themselves."
"But Holmes there is another set of more formal wearing which shows no such indications"
Holmes gave it a glance and said-
