One string.

Two strings.

He felt their vibrations under his fingertips, as he slowly stroked them in the solitude of the night.

He felt the breeze he so loved almost caressing his face, consoling him under the shade of those branches, even though it didn't matter since no sun was to be seen.

He felt he needed to heal, so he came to that tree in Windrise once again.

But yet he wasn't healing at all. He still felt as if his heart was hurting, he felt all of those emotions within him rising in his insides like never before.

Venti sighed, as he relentlessly let go of his beloved lyre, gently placing it next to him. He observed as the leaves flew in that same gentle breeze he had felt just a moment ago, watching while they danced in the air one last time before inevitably touching the grass.

He heard the quiet little noises of squirrels and cranes and some birds in the distance, and even the noise of the Windwheel Asters shaking gently, following the wind.

Yea... The wind... The same wind I am. The same wind as Dvalin, as Boreas... The winds that guided me from destruction and pain and loss to a new region, to a new land that flourished and bloomed with pride and most of all, regained freedom.

Mondstadt. My city... Or well, our city. We govern it, we care for it. Well, maybe them more than me.

Why? Why can't I bring myself to accept all of this? To accept this state of things? Who knows...

He thought and thought, losing himself for hours in the same discourse, in the same endless loop of thoughts sorrounding the recent events, involving him, Dvalin and the Traveler.

Are they in Liyue? Well if so... I wish I could be as determined as them. With one strong purpose and lead, with will to fight, with passion to pour out... What is even my purpose anymore? Am I still a God? Or am I now a simple bard? Either one doesn't feel like it fits anyway... They know what they're doing and yet they're mortal... So young and full of energy... I'm supposed to be the God of freedom and yet as of right now I feel more trapped than I've ever felt in decades, centuries even.

Venti closed his eyes and sighed once again, before lifting himself up on the grass and opening them up again. He saw as the lights of dusk gently illuminated the landscapes and touched briefly on his navy blue hair.

Never before he had felt the weight of his immortality on his shoulders.

It had been a few weeks since his Gnosis was stolen by Signora and the Traveler had left to go towards Liyue. For the little correspondance he last had with them, it seemed the journey was going just fine and that they had successfully reached Wangshu Inn. But now it was quiet, and so the little bard found himself in the loneliness of his philosophical thoughts.

He strolled through those emerald plains, as they glowed and gleamed in the sunlight. That inspired him to think about some drafts of poetry, but they soon got lost in the flood of memories and musings that were drowning his mind.

Footstep after footstep, he approached Mondstadt as slowly, everyone started waking up and getting ready for the approaching day.

He finally smiled slightly, at the sight of his beloved place, and strolled right in, waving at Swan and Lawrence at the entrance.

With each coming day, however, he felt that it was harder and harder to keep his lightheartedness and his iconic carefree smile, but for the sake of the people he loved and cherished he kept going, smiling and waving at everyone that knew him and listened to his ballads.
