I sway my feet over the top bunk bed, thinking. How did I even get here? Was I... extracted from my house, like in those alien movies? No this couldn't be right. Were there more humans on this ship like me?
I jumped out of bed and put on my coat. I'm sure I'm not the only one that knows the truth. I open the door to my apartment and walk out into the hall. The corridor was black at first, but as soon as I stepped outside, the lights began to glow, alerting my presence.
Out of the blue, a hand gripped my shoulder. I turned around to see Odalis standing right next to me, eyes burning with rage.
"I told you not to leave your apartment." She said, her voice cold as ever.
"I- I got bored. You can't keep me caged all day. I'm not your pet hamster." I looked at her. Normally, I would be afraid of her, but after she said that they need me I thought I could take advantage of that. Of course, I was still afraid of her.
"That doesn't mean you can get out on your own."
"Yeah it does. You left me the key and said 'enjoy'. " I dangled the key over her head.
"Trust me, it doesn't." she states, nodding her head.
"Well, I don't trust you." I cross my arms.
Odalis rolled her eyes, and grabbed my hand with and incredibly strong grip which made me stumble across the hall. She opened a portal-door to my flat, and dragged me in.
"You could've just asked me for the key." I said
"Stop it, you're making too many key references. It's annoying." She leaves my side and goes sits on the couch, taking something that looked like a small device from her pocket, completely ignoring me.
"What are you doing?" I inquired, cautiously settling into a chair.
"Keeping you company." She didn't look away from the little device.
"I don't need company."
"Just a few minutes ago you said you got bored."
"How long you're going to stay here?" I demanded.
"Until you're no longer bored." She finally looked at me with an annoyed expression.
"That's not how it works."
"Okay, smarty-pants, enlighten me." She rolled over, her head resting on her hands.
"Nevermind." I mumbled.
We stood like that, in silence for a few seconds. I almost forgot that her people wanted to invade my planet.
"How did you arrive here?" I break the silence.
The question took Odalis by surprise. "What?" she changed her position, now laying on her back, legs and arms sprawled over the couch.
"How did you arrive here, like on the spaceship?" I repeated
She looked at me like I asked her some idiotic question. "I was born here, silly."
"Oh." I looked down at my hands.
Odalis took out her device and began looking at it again. "What's that?"
"I thought you lived enough time on Earth to know what a phone looks like." She said.
"That's not a phone. Otherwise I wouldn't have asked."
She gets up, walking towards me. "Take a look." Odalis says, handing me the 'phone'.
Taking the device in my hands was almost nostalgic. The phone had a wide black frame and weighted a lot, otherwise it looked just like a human phone.
I flipped over the phone, but Odalis gently took it from me. I sucked in a breath as her pale fingers grazed mine. Damn, her fingers were cold.
"Are you cold?" I asked her.
She looked up at me. "No..." and with that she took her phone back and rested down on the couch again.
AN: hehe, this one's shorter.
