Dark brown eyes stared down at the tombstone that "wrote, "Samantha Noelle Lahbati" erected on the ground. The female would kneel on the grass, placing a small bouquet by it.
Saying a little prayer, the brunette closed her eyes.It still felt like yesterday...
One minute, she was told by her sister to use her spare time to get more sleep after a night of studying for an exam in her math class, the next...
Sam's gone.
Lahbati residence; June 29, 2013.
What a tiring night that was.
"Finally." A tired sigh escaped the freshman's lips. She would push her pile of books to the edge of her bed, stretching her back as she fell into the mattress. She heard the bedroom door open, and Samantha popped out of it, all dressed up in a white T-shirt with "Ivy University" printed on the front with the university logo below and light blue jeans.
"You just finished?" Samantha asked with concern. The actress hummed, nodding her head tiredly. "Unfortunately."
Samantha shook her head before looking at her watch. She had to go to the campus hours before the event so she could be able to submit a paper to her professor. "Alright, go get some sleep. As far as I know, they're checking attendance. Better late than never!"
With that, the older female would leave the room. Katrina plopped down the bed. Finally, beauty sleep.
Hours later...
She woke up with a jolt when gunshots rang outside her room. "... What the hell was that?!" She grumbled, pulling herself up from the bed. Dragging her feet along the floor, the brunette looked out from the bedroom window. She couldn't believe her eyes.
It was a mess, everyone running around and about. There were other people, sluggishly walking. Katrina saw a few of them lunge towards others and tackle them to the ground.
What were they doing?!
This woke her senses up, the actress quickly took a shower and changed into a university tee similar to Sam's. She tucked under a pair of light blue jeans.
She ran downstairs, desperate to find any news about what's been going on outside. Deciding it's no use, she rushed outside but stopped when she saw a few of those things just a few feet away from her car. She didn't know what to do, so she hesitated. But that wasn't the time for that.
Truth be told, she didn't know why the hell she was rushing in there. God knows what's the condition on the campus
She'd wait until they reached a safe distance from her, then she could make a beeline for her car. Luckily, they did move away. She dashed towards her car, okay. Now she just has to make her way to the campus.
But, what if... the campus is done for? Samantha was there, is the whole city... done for? She could see a few survivors, but they'd end up either getting hit by cars or getting eaten by other people too. There were so many things going on at the same time and it seems like Katrina couldn't process it properly. All she had in mind was to get to the campus, hoping she'd reach Samantha.
Ivy University, June 2013.
Her worst fear actually came true.
The campus is done for. The outside looked like a ghost town, except for some of those things she saw back outside. Shaking her head, the actress continued towards the entrance. She always thought the security was tight as heck...
I mean, she couldn't be more thankful though, but at a time like this?
"Sam, where are you?!" She grumbles.
On the brighter side..."Hey, at least no exam..." Katrina shakes her head, now is not the time.
Gunshots rang from the distance once again, the brunette flinches. She was in the hallway already, just outside of the lecture halls.
Yeah, the same hall she's taking her math class in. Fuck that subject, fuck that class. Fuck that Professor Roberts— Okay, but she never wished death on him, though he's a bit of an ass. She felt her heart sink once again, her stomach turning as reality sank in. She wanted to just curl up on the floor and cry, praying this is just a nightmare.
She didn't notice the growling from behind.
"Down!" She was snapped out of her trance, "Huh?" Out of instinct, Katrina just moved away instead.
Close call, she knew she was a snack... But definitely not zombie snacks!
She turns her head to see... two actual living humans?!
The other one is a woman, and the other is... a guy. Dirty blonde... parted hair... black button-up shirt, leather jacket.
She couldn't help but notice though...
Do people still have their hair like that?! Dude looked like he's a mix of some emo band member with a 90's boy band haircut. She wanted to snicker, but that's just rude.
Alright, she isn't going to lie... He's kind of cute.
But that's beside the point. Once again, now's not the time to "sightsee." The other, though....
Button up blouse with a black vest and black slacks. Brown hair, brown eyes... Okay...? Relief surged through the actress' veins. This was gonna be a long night.
5 years later, Cemetery
A long sigh escaped the brunette's lips as her eyes were glued to the tombstone. "You're so unfair, Sam. You left me..." Katrina pouted, fiddling with the grass. Gently placing a hand on the tombstone, the brunette smiled, "I'll see you around, ate. I miss you."She got up on her feet. At least she knew Sam is now at peace, and she's sure her older sister would be very proud of her.
