A calico tomcat peered outside a den, his brown eyes full of curiosity. A ginger she-cat nudged him gently, encouraging him to go out.

"Woo! Finally!" A gray long haired kit pushed past the calico, making him fall. "The camp is so big!"

"Be careful with Berrykit, Snakekit!" The tabby scolded. Berrykit whimpered, scampering back into the den. "Look what you've done. I've spent moons trying to convince him to come out."

"He's such a scaredy-mouse!" Snakekit rolled around. "Right Flowerkit?"

Flowerkit hesitated, barely outside of the den. "I guess." she mewed.

"That's enough! If you won't behave, I'll take you back in."

"Aw, mom! Stupid Berrykit, he ruins everything... typical kittypet." He added quietly. The she-cat seemed not to hear.

Berrykit crouched outside the den, hearing Snakekit's grumbles and complaints about him. He frowned. Why doesn't he like me? He licked his chest. He didn't ruin things. Did he? And he wasn't a kittypet, his father was! I would never be a kittypet!

Snakekit and Flowerkit began to play outside, and Berrykit finally worked up the courage to follow them outside.

"Look! It's Scaredykit!" Snakekit hissed.

"Haha! Scaredykit!" Flowerkit giggled. Her littermates began to slip out.

"Scaredykit! Scaredykit!" A white she-cat chanted, while a gray and brown tabby joined in. Berrykit's fur bristled.

"My name's Berrykit!"

"Of course it is. You're so small. Like a berry." Snakekit unsheathed his claws, hissing, his eyes shining. "You're gonna be the weakest warrior in the clan. Or even a medicine cat!"

"Snakekit..." The tabby made no attempt to stop him, only watched with fear.

"Get him!"

"Attack him!"

"Make him cry like a little newborn!"

Berrykit's ears flattened against his head, backing into the nursery again. Snakekit looked at him with hungry eyes. "You know what happens to kittypets like you?" He leapt at him, piercing his skin and tearing out small clumps of fur. The other kits cheered for Snakekit, especially the white she-kit. "They get killed."

"Snakekit, stop that now!" The tabby finally swooped in, picking him up by the scruff and placing him away from Berrykit. Berrykit trembled with fear, his wounds dripping a small amount of blood.

"I bet he won't forget what you did today!" The white cat sneered, pressing against Snakekit's side.

"Yeah. Stupid kittypet." Snakekit began to pad away to the warrior's den.

Flowerkit and the gray and brown tabby stared at their littermate in disbelief, then back at Berrykit, before turning and following Snakekit uneasily.

Berrykit watched them go, his claws itching to rake Snakekit's muzzle. But he was too small. He would get squashed. Instead he glared at them, a mixture of fear and hatred glowing in his small brown eyes.

No. I'll never forget.
